It was weird, this was weird, it was so strange and yet...
He shook his head.
Why were they doing this? No, why was she doing this of all the things she could do? And why was he accompanying her? He could, hypothetically use his powers to change her mind- it was a bit more than a piece of cake- but maybe he was curious as to where she was going. Maybe, he didn't think it right to use his powers in such a way. He didn't know, but she needed to be invigilated and she was his friend, and his duties spoke to him. Hence, he was going with her- more like following her because she was too fast and he was thinking too much.
When she stopped, he almost banged his head against something because of the location she stopped at. There was the huge building before them and there was the girl hiding near a garbage can beside the building, and then there was Aidan who facepalmed himself (if not banging his head against something) because of the quirks of his friend.
"Is this really necessary?" He called out in a bored tone. "You can't go in and you'll stink by the time you come back."
"It is!" She hissed back and motioned him to be quiet, even though there wasn't anyone there. Her head whipped back around and she continued her inspections and investigations on... well, that.
Abel had told her a bit of what he knew; where this 'Gideon' worked, what were his timings of leaving and entering the office and so on. Hence, her string of curiosity pulling the girl here, to fruitless searches of the man.
This would get her killed.
Aidan sincerely hoped that it didn't.
He stood there staring at her for about fifteen minutes or maybe twenty after which he was reminded that the boy didn't have breakfast, nor lunch. Looking around, he saw a small café that made his tiny stomach grumble even more, so went across the street to the place where he could sit and dine on some croissants and coffee maybe. That was on his mind as he placed his order, keeping an eye out for his friend.
The two remained at their position for so long that the afternoon slowly started setting to evening. Aidan sat outside on one of the tables set up and ate his meal. Hannah would change positions repeatedly; from the squat to folding her legs and so on. Aidan either stared at her from afar or scrolled down emails on his phone, hoping to get at least something done today. It was when the sky changed from bright yellow to chilly shades or blue and purple that the blackhaired girl found herself sitting across the table from Aidan, muttering about why she hadn't thought of sitting here in the first place.
"Can we go home if your investigations are finished?" The boy stood up from his seat and stretched a bit. It was get cooler and he hadn't brought a sweater with him. Hannah reluctantly nodded and rose up too. When she turned around to walk down the path, she froze, catching a familiar face in a short distance.
"What happened?" Aidan furrowed his brows before following her line of gaze to where Hannah was staring at a bluehaired girl. Mai. The third year was walking down the street towards the café with a sour mood and it seemed that she had identified her schoolmates.
"Hey Mai," Aidan greeted her along with her reply. "Did something happen?"
She tapped her feet and bit her lip as if forming words. Then sighed out of frustration and nodded. Her hands were shaky, like of those students who'd freak out during finals. She didn't seem to have some school related problem though, but who knew?
"Eh, just tryina' get some information about this guy called 'Gideon Sever'. Can't contact Andy recently either," she huffed, knowing that the words would float above their minds and after a few words of sympathy, they'd all walked their own paths.
