XVI: Byleth's Abduction

Two days after the battle at the valley of torment, Lord Arundel abducts the duke's only daughter and curses her with a evil crystal which will put her under his control if he uses dark magic on the crystal. Before Arundel lets Byleth go, he has something to tell her. "Keep in mind if dark magic finds that crystal, you won't be able to control yourself unless it shatters.", Arundel explains to Byleth before he loosened the vines holding her in place and letting her go. Four days later, Byleth is resting in bed and she asks her father for water. However, true to Arundel's words, dark magic appears and Byleth falls under his control. "Bring harm to your family!", he orders her from where he's keeping a eye on her through a mirror. "As you wish.", she tells him before she stands up. "Byleth?", Rodrigue asks his only daughter before she turns around, revealing her mint green eyes to be mindless. He screams in pain when she wounds him with a slash to his right arm before she walks out of the infirmary and down the stairs to find Glenn and Felix. Lysithea rushes in and starts healing Rodrigue. After she wounds Glenn and Felix with a slash to their right arms, Byleth warps away. Ingrid takes them to the infirmary. Lysithea, Dorothea and Manuela are waiting there. After laying Glenn and Felix down on the beds, Ingrid leaves the infirmary so Lysithea, Dorothea and Manuela can heal the three patients. When he learns from Marianne what happened to Byleth, Dimitri is furious. He finds Andrew and Sarah looking for their mother. "Andrew! Sarah! I'm right here!", he tells them and they turn around. "Papa! What happened to Mama? Please tell us! We're worried about her!", they tell him before running to him. Dimitri tells Andrew and Sarah what happened to Byleth, which makes them sad, so they start to cry. "Free Mama from his control! We want her back, Papa!", they begged their father. "Andrew, Sarah. I promise I'll bring your mother back home safe.", he tells them. That night, he tucks Andrew and Sarah in bed and tells them of their mother's past as the mage who specialized in magic, swords and lances due to the fact she was the only daughter of the duke who was also a holy knight. After they fall asleep, Dimitri walks out of their room. By the end of the month, the kingdom army successfully captured the great bridge after Dimitri spared Lorenz by inviting him to join them in fighting back against the empire, which surprised him in the process.
