"Where am I?"
A voice echoed throughout the darkness. The source immediately grasped at their throat and looked about in confusion. They gazed down where their hands were resting and began to hum.
Their eyes enlarged in surprise at the soft, sound that reverberates within them. They released their neck and guided their hands up and down their body, observing every inch, every speck, every detail.
"What am I?" They raised their palms and began to thoroughly inspect them with great curiosity.
They maneuvered them to their head, touching and prodding at their face, before feeling and pulling at their hair. They plucked a piece clean off, wincing as a result, and held it in front of them to see. The (H/c) strand of hair seemed to gleam in the moonlight at which they found to be quite enchanting, for they stared at it in a sort of trance.
The blissful look ceased, due to a small breeze blowing away the single hair. They watched it fly adrift with a faraway look in their eyes as their attention redirected to the starry, night sky. They held a hand up high, judging their distance from the earth below to up above.
A faint, gentle voice slipped past their trembling lips, " F-family..."
Snapping back to reality, they looked onward to try and navigate their way throughout the foreign, yet oddly familiar place. As they took their very first step, they instantly fell face-first into the dirt. They groaned as they struggled to pick themselves up from the ground. After a while, they were finally able to stand back up and precariously walk to a nearby tree. They panted as they propped onto the tree for dear life.
Regaining their newfound breath, they continued their trek through the woods. Moments later spent stumbling, tripping, and falling downhills, they discovered a source of light, flickering between the cracks of the trees.
They squinted and shielded their eyes from the incoming light as they grew nearer to the source. Finally, getting past all the greenery, they gasped at their findings. Nothing, but excitement clouding their judgment in a miracle, they raced to the two figures resting by the fire. Losing their footing, they fell right in front of the flame and hastily withdrew from the intense amount of heat.
Thump, Thump, Thump!
They clutched their hand over their chest as they tried to steady their breathing.
"Phew!" They sighed, eventually coming to ease and gazed back at the crackling flame. The light reflected in their (E/c) eyes as they crawled closer to feel a rush of heat from the blaze. Seated comfortably, they examined the individuals who sounded asleep by their side.
Their head tilted to the side in wonder from the peculiar beings. They arose, crept closer, and stood over them with great interest. Eyes practically sparkling in fascination, gazing at the orange, shaggy-haired creature breathing softly on top of the larger, blue one. They inched back eyes steady, focusing on the weary travelers; they drew up a log to perch on.
"Wow~," they awed.

And for the rest of the night, they remained just like that.
