Mya hates aeroplanes. She calls them 'flying death traps', Callum whole heartedly agrees. Mya would much rather be walking through the long, dark oak trees beside her house than be in the air stuck in an aeroplane.
Callum would prefer to be playing with a football on the rough grass. Yet not everyone gets what they want. So, here they were. On an aeroplane. On the way to Paris.
Dylan was sitting on the left row beside the window, looking out of the small glass window she seen the plane lifting off into the crisp, cool air as it left the airport. The houses in Vienna were getting smaller, smaller and then they were little black dots amongst the bright green of the fields and dark green of the trees in the forest.
Adam was sitting beside her nose in a book, coincidentally it was a book all about cracking secret codes and messages; more specifically the 'Nancy Drew book of Secret codes'. Adam was simply doing what he did best...research.
Cassidy was asleep. Well, half asleep, she was sitting on her seat at the edge of the row with her legs stretched over to lay on Callum's lap. Her blond hair was tied up in a messy bun with a blue butterfly clip holding it in place.
Callum was trying to move Cassidy's legs of his lap for the woman with the food trolley to get past. It was a failed attempt.
On the other hand, Mya was looking out the window on her row, dearly wishing she was back down on the ground.Cassidy groaned as she slowly opened one eye, getting used to the light and then opening the other, 'G-good mor-morning' she yawned. 'It's three o'clock in the afternoon idiot' drawled Mya, she was really sick of being in the air now.
'Excuse me, Miss? Are you alright?' The two sitting closest to the isle so, Cassidy and Callum, peeked their heads round to see one of the flight attendants trying to talk to what looked like a woman in her mid-twenties. 'Miss? Hello..?' The flight attendant called again yet the woman just sat there. Completely silent, not even acknowledging the flight attendant trying to get her attention.
The odd woman finally began to move after around five and a half minutes, she reached into her pocket slowly and pulled out a small lighter. Pulling her plastic cup closer to her she opened the lighter and pressed down on it so the end started a spark of flames. By now most people who were awake on the plane had turned in their seats to see what was happening and the flight attendant was worried, 'I'm sorry Miss but I'm afraid you're not allowed a lighter on this plane... wait, wait what is that' she asked pointing at the plastic cup that seemed to be filled with a clear liquid of some sort. The woman only said one word before dropping the lighter into the cup and throwing it on the floor of the plane.
'Gasoline.'Everyone was suddenly awake and very cautious of the spreading fire across the floor. 'Okay everybody it seems that we are experiencing a minor fire at the moment. Please put your life vests on as we are opening the front, back and middle exits of this plane. If you could exit calmly and carefully, thank you.' The pilot's voice carried through the plane from the speakers.
The flames were getting hotter. More red. Less yellow. The rising heat of the blazing red flames causing beads of sweat to form on Adam's forehead. Rushing off the plane the group of five young adults made there way down into the water.
'Aaah, the water's bloody freezing!' Exclaimed Dylan who was previously trying to use her power to extract the fire from the plane and into her body instead. It was a failed attempt.
'Unfortunately there is nothing I can do about that Dyl' Callum said calmly after he rose to the surface of the sea. 'Well no duh Callum. I didn't want you to do something but maybe Adam could freeze the water and we could sit on the ice instead of nearly drowning!' Dylan's voice got louder the more she spoke.
'Okay, yeah right. I can do this.' Adam murmured mostly to himself rather that the other four who were looking at him as though they were expecting some elaborate gift from him. Carefully Adam took a deep breath in and let himself slip under the surface; focusing on clearing his mind he went to a little wooden door he had created near the back of his mind. The door was small, like crawl space small but still big enough for Adam to quickly slip through. Once inside he took a second to look around before heading over to an organised iron desk. The room was big, big but comfortable; it had royal blue floors with crystal wallpaper on all walls, lining the room were 3 different shelves, one was a dark oak wood and had what looked like mistletoe in a few small glass jars. The second shelf was made of light oak wood with parsley leaves in a dish. Last but not least the third shelf looked like it was made out of pine wood, on it sat a large dish with a slimy silvery substance inside.Once at the desk Adam began to look through his diagrams of how he has used his power before. Looking over exactly where his hands had moved, exactly what words he had chanted, exactly why he was going this.
After Adam knew all this information was stored more to the front of his mind he left and swam back up to catch a breath and open his eyes. When he was ready, Adam started imagining the water underneath him and his friends becoming colder and colder under it was a solid block of ice. Having this clear image in his head he punched the waves around him as hard as he could and waited, until eventually the water turned to ice and the small group of five climbed up onto it.
'Phew, thank god!' Callum spoke as he clapped his best friend on the back. Adam sat there smiling as people began to resurface and join them on the block of ice. Adam's thoughts started to wander from people's safety to how they were going to get out of there. It was starting to get late in the afternoon and Callum was moaning about how they didn't have any food on them. Quickly thinking about the world map that Adam had visualized in his mind, he found that the closest place to try get to for the night was a little island just off the west coast of Belgium. Very few people actually knew that this island even existed because it was rumoured that it had been completely flooded over 100 years ago however Adam had done his research of course, and found that the island was in fact still standing.
Making his way over to Cassidy he whispered his plan to swim the few miles across to this small island and rest there for the night then make their way to belgium in the morning. Cassidy quickly agreed to his plan and soon almost everybody who survived the crash was making their way to the island.4 hours later, people were drying off beside the fire pit that a couple of men had made when they arrived.
Callum and Mya were messing around on the beach. They were throwing sand at each other, trying to see who can push each other in the water first; it was crazy.
"Whoever is happy will make others happy as well." Adam spoke softly as he watched his two best friends laugh and play. Without noticing, Dylan managed to sneak up on Adam and stand beside him for a few minutes before she spoke to break the silence, "Who said that?". "Anne Frank" Adam replied shortly before taking a deep breath and turning his head to look at Dylan, "It's beautiful isn't it."
Turning her head, Dylan found herself staring into Adam's soft blue eyes, getting more and more mesmerized as each second past."Yes. Yes it is."
