Aven's POV:
Pacing back and forth in the meeting room, occasionally looking down at my wristwatch, I can tell I have the others fooled.
I couldn't find it in me to tell them I let Carrie go already, so I'm just going to pretend she just didn't show up to the call-back meeting.
At least then they'll have no choice but to let me hire Ezekiel.
"This is really not looking good for her if she's thirty minutes late to her call back, she has fifteen minutes until her meeting is over," my brother chimes in with all of his wisdom, sitting back further in his seat.
I hope he falls back. And I say this with love.
"Don't loose hope, you still have another call-back with that Ezekiel guy, I think we all liked him better anyway." Sandra says this
"Yeah, I think he's more suited to the job, and he'll keep you out of trouble too," Leanne adds, "he seems like the kind of guy who isn't just a puppet who will do everything you say and will actually keep you in line."
I glare at her. She doesn't have to know that I agree.
"You have a visitor in the lobby sir," a voice calls over the intercom.
"Thank you, I'll be right down," I say heading out the door, "maybe Carrie finally decided to show up," I yell back at them as I hear someone's footsteps coming towards me.
"Hey," Sandra says catching up to me.
"Hello," I reply, chuckling slightly.
"I just wanted to let you know I think you made the right choice I don't exactly agree with the way you did it, but I'm glad you were nice about it."
Shit. I forgot every phone call I make in the office through my business number also goes through her front desk phone. And she listens to every call.
Not in a creepy way, just so if there's any information mentioned or anything rude or disrespectful, she has it on record.
That means she heard my phone call with Carrie.
"oh." Is all I can say.
"You made the right choice Ezekiel was amazing in his interview."
I nod my head in agreement, hiding my small smile, he was amazing.
"loved his paragraph too," she laughs slightly. i glare at her in response before letting out a small chuckle.
Getting out of the elevator, I find it hard to contain my smile.
Ezekiel is already here, twenty minutes early.
He looks even more amazing than he did early, his hair slightly messed up from being outside on a windy day like today, cheeks flushed slightly pink, he must've walked pretty far.
"Ezekiel, good to see you again," Sandra says smiling, shaking his hand.
Shit I have to shake his hand. I try to subtly wipe my sweaty palms on my suit pants, hoping he doesn't see.
That would be embarrassing. Imagine if Sandra worked out how nervous he makes me, what would she think?!
"Ezekiel," I say, trying to sound as calm and professional as I can.
He shakes my hand again, his hand still fitting perfectly in mine.
"Good afternoon sir," he says nervously, his eyes dropping down to the floor and back up to mine.
Sandra lightly coughs, indicating that she noticed how long we were just staring at each other, basically holding hands again.
Rubbing the back of my neck, quietly chuckling to myself I steal a glance at him. He's looking at the ground again trying to hide the blush that has spread over his whole face.
