3 years later: lumity fanfic

Coming home

Luz's POV:
Three years. It has been three whole years since i came home from the boiling isles. my mom wasn't too stoked to hear that i hadn't gone to camp that summer and it took some time for her to believe that i spent 4 months in a demon realm but eventually she had to believe me since Owlbert would occasionally bring me letters from Eda and King when Eda sent him through the portal to steal more human junk for her stand.
When i got home three years ago i spent my freshman year of high school at my local public school, Mellwood. I won't lie, i didn't really make any friends, in fact, i made enemies. I got bullied a lot for being "different" and eventually my mom decided it was best if she took me out of Mellwood and homeschooled me, which allowed me to finish high school a year early.
Now i'm 17 years old and finishing up my senior year of highschool, and the best part? i get to go back to the boiling isles!
"mija are you all packed? how are you getting there anyway?" my mom shouted from the kitchen. "sí mami, and Owlbert will come to pick me up and bring me through the portal"
I grabbed my duffel bag, backpack, and sleeping and ran down the stairs, missing the last few steps and landing on my butt with a thud, this was a usual occurrence. "you okay mija?"
I quickly got back up, collecting my things and began to walk towards the kitchen. I threw my stuff next to the door and looked at myself in the large mirror we had in the foyer. I had changed a fair amount since the last time i was in the boiling isles, my hair was now past my jaw (i liked to keep it short) and i had grown a good few inches. i was currently wearing black jeans, a white and grey t-shirt which was tucked loosely into my pants, and a red (slightly oversized) flannel over my shirt. i dropped myself to the floor to throw on my Vans and cuff the bottom of my jeans. i used to wear a purple and white cat hoodie everyday but i gave that to my friend Amity before i left the boiling isles.
Amity. That was usually the first name to come to my head whenever I thought of the isles. I missed her, luckily i would be able to see her again in hopefully less than two hours. I wonder what she was like now, when i think of her all i see is a 14 year old girl with bright green hair, even back then she was very pretty. "¡¿cuando te hiciste tan grande?!" my mom's words snapped me out of the trance "mama please! quit it!" i said as she repeatedly kissed me on my face. "when is your owl friend coming? i want to see you off through the portal or whatever you call it" "he should be here in just a minute, let's wait on the porch" i said. she helped me grab my stuff off the ground and when i opened the door i was greeted by Owlbert already on our doorstep.
"Come on mama, i want to get there fast. maybe you can even meet Eda if she's at her stand!" i scooped up Owlbert and started into the woods next to my house. "okay Luz, i'm right behind you". It did not take long for us to reach the old shed in the woods and the portal was already open when we got there. I put Owlbert on the ground and he hopped right through the portal. "ready mami?" "i guess so, are you sure about this Luz?" "absolutely" I grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her through the portal in a hurry.
My eyes hadn't even fully adjusted to the bright sun on the boiling isles before i was pulled into a tight hug. "i missed you kiddo! wow, look at you all grown up!" Eda exclaimed. "I missed you too, Eda!"  I returned the hug and let it last just long enough for Eda to get uncomfortable and push me away. "and this must be your mom?" she asked.
Before I could answer i was struck to the ground and had gotten the wind knocked out of me by something. that thing was King. "LUZ LUZ LUZ LUZ OH I MISSED YOU BOOBOO BUDDY!" King shouted at me, he hadn't changed a bit. "AH KING I MISSED YOU, YOU LITTLE CUTIE PIE" i began to kiss him and he pushed me away, making me realize how similar i was to my mother.
I got up to see that my mom and Eda had introduced themselves and were now making small talk. "Luz bebé, I really must get going to work, come visit me as soon as you can okay?" my mom pulled me into a hug "of course mami" i said. With that my mom stepped back through the portal and out of sight.
I was back in the boiling isles. I was home.
