3 years later: lumity fanfic

The next day

I am so so sorry about the wait, I just had to take some time to myself with the semester ending (junior year sucks yall, dont let anyone tell you otherwise) anyways, here ya go:

Luz POV:

"Hey mittens!" Emira's voice rang as she knocked on the door. Amity and I both woke with a start.
I looked around and realized my arms were wrapped around her torso and hers around my shoulders, our faces inches apart and our legs tangled up under the covers.
"Uhm just a second!" Amity said after a few moments of flustered stares. We slowly separated and I let out a nervous laugh to alleviate some of the unintended awkwardness but it didn't help much.
I sat up in the bed as Amity walked to the door to open it. "Mother and father already left for work and Ed and I are going to hang out with some friends, don't burn the house down while we're gone," Emira said to Amity, then looking at me she said "hey cutie, how ya feelin'?"
I blushed a little at the nickname "I'm feeling good, thanks to Amity" I said smiling at the mint haired witch.
"Well, I'll see you two later" Emira said, walking towards the stairs. "Bye" Amity and I said in unison. Amity shut the door and turned to look at me "How much of last night do you remember?" she asked.
"Well I remember us getting there and separating when we met Leon outside, then Leon and I went inside with some of his friends and I told him some stuff about the human realm. the rest is just kinda a blur"
Amity stood silently for a second then asked "Do you remember anything Leon did?" I thought for a second, I do remember a few things but they're things I'd rather not think about "I remember.. I remember asking Leon to stop touching me a few times.. and then I remember walking me out of the house but that's really all"
Amity must've noticed the memories from the night before made me upset so she let out a small chuckle "Well it's too bad you don't remember me yelling at him" she said with a small but proud smile. I was shocked, "You yelled at Leon?", "Well yeah, I couldn't just let him touch you like that".
Something about the way she said that gave me butterflies. We sat in silence for a second, staring at each other. Her eyes were so beautiful, they were a light golden color yet somehow they seemed like a deep pool, I could get lost in her eyes oh my god.
suddenly my phone buzzed and I looked down to see I had three texts from Eda: one from the night before and two from this morning.
"Hey kid, I need some help at the stand so be back soon;
The blight girl can come too ;)"
I regret teaching her how to make faces with the keys. "Hey Amity I gotta go help Eda with the stand, wanna come?" when I looked up from my phone I noticed she had moved next to me on the bed.
"Sure but..." she said eyeing me up and down "do you want to borrow some clothes or just change into the ones you had on last night?" she asked. Looking down I realized I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt that must've belonged to Amity.
"I guess I'll just change into my clothes from last night" I said getting off the bed, suddenly realizing I had no clue where my clothes were and no memory of changing the night before.
Noticing my confusion, Amity went to her desk where she had neatly placed my clothes the night before and handing them to me she said "You can go ahead and change in the bathroom". She followed me across the room and shut the bathroom door once I walked in. "Don't make me have to come in there and help you again" I heard her say through a very audible smile.
Wait what? I stood still for a second thinking about what she said. Come in and help me? AGAIN?
I decided to brush it off for now. I took off the borrowed pjs and slipped on my clothes. When I stepped out of the bathroom amity was already changed, she wore black jeans with rips at the knees and a white sleeveless turtleneck [inspo: fanart by yasherka_art on instagram] "Ready to go?" "Yup" I said shoving my phone in my pocket.
I followed her down the hall, down the stairs and out the front door.
I looked at my phone and saw that eda was already at the market but Amity and I decided to run to the owl house first so I could change into some fresh clothes. The walk to the owl house didn't take long and when we got there we were pleased to see that Hooty was distracted with some bug on the ground so we were able to sneak past him. "You can come up to my room with me if you want and wait in there while I get changed" I said to Amity "Sounds good".
Amity followed me up the stairs and when we got to my room I went to my duffel bag which I hadn't unpacked yet and pulled out some pale blue ripped jeans, a purple and white striped t-shirt, and a thick brown belt. "I'll be right back" I said leaving Amity alone in my room, then I walked down the hall and into the bathroom.
I closed the bathroom door behind me and leaned my back against it, I felt myself exhale a breath I didn't even know I was holding. Why am I so tense around her? She's harmless, it's not like she's gonna hurt me. I slowly began taking off my clothes from the day before and slipping on my new ones.
I tucked my shirt into my jeans and looped the belt through watching myself in the mirror as I did so. After a few seconds of standing in front of the mirror I caught myself adjusting and readjusting my hair. What am i doing? I always wear my hair the same way. Yet still I felt inclined to make it perfect... but not for myself.
Finally I was content with how I looked and made my way back to my bedroom. Amity was sitting on my bed, scanning the room with her eyes. "Oh hey.. you look nice" I felt a hot blush rise in my cheeks when she said that. Chill out luz. "Uh heh thanks". I walked over to my bad and dropped down to the floor to grab a pair of green converse.
I laced them up and as I sat on the floor to cuff the ends of my jeans Amity came and sat next to me. She picked up my red beanie which was hanging out of my bag and held it in her hands for a second. "This is cute, you should wear it more often" I quickly ripped it from her hands and shoved it onto my head, startling her and myself in the process.
"Wow, aggressive" she said laughing as a fumbled with the hat, adjusting it on my head. So much for fixing my hair. "Here, lemme help you with that", she moved my hands out of the way and reached up to put my hat on my head and run her fingers through my hair, sticking her tongue out in concentration. "Perfect" she announced once she was satisfied with her work.
I got to my feet and offered her my hand to pull her up and we began walking through the house and back into the towards the market, once we entered the woods though I realized our fingers were still intertwined and apparently Amity noticed too because she looked down at our hands and quickly pulled her's away.
I looked up and made eye contact with her, her face was considerably red. "I- uh, sorry heh I'm um" she seemed to be struggling to form a sentence. "Amity are you okay?" I said grinning, it was kinda cute. "Yup! I'm fine! We're all fine here!" That was strange. "Okay then" I shrugged it off and we continued walking.
We finally reached Eda's stand and she seemed please to see us. "Hey kids, so Luz, how was your first Boiling Isle's party?". Amity and I glanced at each other then back at Eda. "Great" we said together. "Well you two are awful liars, but lucky for you I don't care.. at least not at the moment. Now help me with this rush". Noticing the flood of customers Amity and I quickly began exchanging useless human junk for snails with the people of Bonesburrow.

[Le Time Skip]

Amity POV:

It was late afternoon by the time we finished at the stand. We had worked for about 4 hours with a couple breaks where Luz and I would sit in Eda's tent and drink some human beverage that Luz called "AriZona Tea" that eda's palisman had brought from the human world.
By the end of the day Eda gave each of us 30 snails for our help. "Hey Luz I better get going, my parents will want me home", "oh sure, it was really fun spending the day with you!" she said suddenly pulling me into a tight hug. Oh my titan what is happening. The hug lasted almost a second too long and Luz seemed to notice because when she pulled away she had a very flustered look on her face.
I said goodbye to Eda and her little demon and started towards the woods, turning back to see that Eda had Luz in a head lock and was ruffling her hair with her knuckles. Aw she's adorable- wait what.
I shook my head, physically pushing the thought out of my brain and broke into a small jog and once I was out of sight of the market, a run. Mother and father will kill me if they're home before I am.

Luz POV

Eda,King, and I rode Owlbert back to the owl house and once we were there King followed me up to my room. He curled up on my bed while I unpacked my duffel bag and organized all of the things I brought from my human home. I scooped up King in my arms and him, Eda, and I spent a few hours in the living room catching each other up on the last 3 years. Holy shit, I've missed them.
Eventually I decided it was time to hit the hay. I hugged Eda and King goodnight and went up to my room. I pulled my t-shirt and pants off and put some shorts on and curled up in my bed.
Holy shit I've missed this.
