The side that lost

Chapter 1

I feel the pain. I slowly open my eyes and find myself lying on the cold white platform. I am still in the white loose t-shirt but I have been cleaned up. I try to get up but groan and fall back down because of the pain. I don't know how much time has passed after I was captured. 

I see some of them still observing me from outside the field cage. I so badly wanted to get out from here but I can't escape the field unless it is switched off from outside. I know this because of the stunt I pulled a few days ago when I threw the food at them in anger and it disintegrated into nothingness, not even a trace was left behind.

I look back at them and see them still analyzing and trying to figure out something about me but from the looks of it they still haven't found the answers. I try to keep my mind busy so that I don't go insane. I try to remember everything that has happened so far.

I lived on the planet called Tront. My people had tried to infiltrate another planet in order to gain supremacy but we had underestimated the people of Ultear. Ultear and Tront had been in a peaceful pact when we came to know about each others existence but higher power of Tront was planning to attack Ultear from the very start. None of the general population knew about it. Tront council had send out the biggest army to attack Ultear. They were all monitering it live when they suddenly lost contact with all the space mobiles. 

I was working in my lab at the time when suddenly emergency broadcast went up saying Tront was under attack. I went to the nearby protection field setup and activated it. I turned on my surveillance drones and saw that it was complete chaos out there. Suddenly everyone had dropped dead and I stood stunned trying to process what exactly happened. I saw my comp showing presence of someone in the lab but they had not breached in. This new information send a chill through my whole body.

They were too head of us in science and technology.

The last thing I remember before blacking out is my comp showing someone behind me but there was no one there.

I woke up on a white circular platform. I tried to get up but I felt sharp pain all over my body and noticed wires attached to my hands and legs. These wires were emerging out of a root like structure a few meters above me. Suddenly lights at various places turned on and I saw people looking at me through glass panels. They were all looking at me while I tried to think of a way to get out.

"What is your core?", one of the person asked me.

Core? I stared back at him blankly. 

"I don't know what you are talking about.", I replied.

They were still looking at me which started to make me feel irritated and anxious. I tried to move again but I no longer had control of my body.

"It is futile."

I look up to see him give me a small smile. That was a bad move.

"Who are you and what do you want from me?", I glared at him while asking through gritted teeth.

"I am the one who leads Ultear, that's all you need to know for now. Start the program.", the root started extending one of its ends towards him when he said the last part. 

"Present your core.", said the root system. He held the end and blue signal waves started flowing through the whole structure.

Suddenly a field appeared around the circular platform. I felt panic and terror for the first time in my life. I suddenly felt electric shocks which made me scream out. I felt that they had increased the power of the shocks and soon I started to feel as if my consciousness started to fade away. I thought that I will finally not feel anymore pain but suddenly I felt as if my skin was on fire and I woke up in a room full of smoke and fire.
