The side that lost

Chapter 3

For the first time I didn't worry about finding answers which bugged me but it was like my mind no longer wanted to think about it. Era had been watching me the whole time. It seemed like she was waiting for something. She held my face and touched her forehead to mine. I felt tingling sensation on my skin where she touched and suddenly a scene started playing in front of me. 

I saw another me all battered up and lying on the floor of a dark cell. Delmore walked in and lowered himself near me.

"Well, we can't leave you alive now that you know everything.", he said smiling.

He didn't even wait or show any hesitation and stabbed the other me in her heart. The scene blurred out and I found myself back at the lake side.

"You saw what he did. You need to get out of here before that happens again.", said Era with pain in her voice.

"But why did he kill me?", I asked her.

"Delmore told you that you helped him to find the energy particles and make me. He omitted the fact that he had forced you to do it, more accurately future Delmore will force you to go back in time and help him. I don't know what he will threaten you with but you will have no choice.", she said.

"How do you know what will happen in future?", I asked as I can't trust her but for some odd reason I wanted to trust her and that irked me.

"I am programmed to learn to evolve. My time is up for today. We will meet again Athena", she said before turning into blue mist.

Why is she helping me? I laid back on the grass and closed my eyes. My life had been more or less simple before all this happened. As far as I remember I had always been in the lab working to decode the encrypted message in the ring. I don't remember anything else which is weird but I never felt the need to know. Decoding the message had always been the priority and keeping the ring safe. I open my eyes to find myself back in the field cage but something was odd. It was too quiet.

I looked up to see everyone staring at me. The whole set up reminded me of first day. 

"Everyone out!", shouted Delmore. 

Once everyone cleared the room Delmore started to come closer to the field cage. He punched in something and the field cage disappeared. I stayed on the floor too stunned to move. Delmore walked up to me. He took hold of my upper arm and started to walk out of the room. 

We crossed many corridors and finally came to a stop in front of a white door. I tried to struggle out of his grasp but I was too weak. Once we both were inside he punched in some code after which the whole white room walls glowed blue in color. It looked like he was in deep thought while I stood there waiting for him to explain this sudden change.

"She won't be able to contact you from here. And don't let her control your thoughts.",  he said and left before I could ask anything.

Control my thoughts? Now that I thing about it, the whole meet up with Era was weird but still I can't trust any of them. For all I know the two of them could be working together. I look around the room and notice a comfy bed. Even though it's not possible but I still try to see if I can get out of the room. After crushing the little hope I had I lie down on the bed and fell asleep while wondering about what will happen next.
