The ceremony was nearing.
Every 10 years a ceremony was held by the ten Grand Dukes and Duchesses in order to present their adult children and to find suitable partners for them. Since they had almost endless lives, age really didn't matter to them as much. However, in order to find a partner, they would have to be older than eighteen.
Khun Aguero Agnis was one of the more recognized children of the Khun family. A genius in strategy and combat. The only other child of Eduan who is compared with him in this generation is Khun Ran, who is also called a prodigy.
In the first few years of his teens, Aguero was not taken seriously because his sister failed to impress King Zahard and become a Princess. It was partially his fault, but did he feel remorseful? Not really. At least not at the time. But when Maria became a princess, she completely cut ties off with him...
And he didn't appreciate that.
With the help of his out of family friends, Bam and Rak, the three of them and their other companions all made a name for themselves across the kingdom. However, that made it even harder to find a suitable partner...
Since he himself wasn't interested in anyone as of yet, it would be beneficial to him if he got close to a person with a higher ranking or social status. Maybe even a Princess would be nice, but they were difficult women. He sighed again, not wanting to think about it.
Maybe he'd give it another ten years...
The night of the ceremony had arrived and, as expected, everyone was dressed up to their finest. And Aguero did not let the chance to tease Ran about his nervousness pass, although he admitted that he was surprisingly good at playing it off.
The arrival of the princesses was grandiose, followed by the Arie family and finally it was their turn after that. Eduan, their father, was quick to become the eye candy for multiple women, and his children were no different, Aguero included.
He scoffed silently, walking to a more quiet corner since he was bound to be pestered by women since he didn't take anyone as a partner... Yet. Just as he was done walking around the room he saw you from the corner of his eyes.
The long, white hair that was styled in a simple ponytail with a beautiful (color) hair tie and a few strands behind your ears while your (eye color) eyes were fixed on the sister you were speaking to. Your simple yet elegant gown was of (color) silks and he had to admit, it fit you well.
Your beauty was surely eye-catching with your well styled outfit. He thought he'd keep an eye on you just to see if you had a partner or not. Which, after a while he figured, you did not. You had sat with your older sister, Arie (Sister name), conversing about something serious-looking instead of spending time with other boys like he thought you would.
"How intriguing," he admitted to himself quietly.
It was time for the first dance which is always reserved for the Grand Dukes and Duchesses along with their heirs. So it wasn't time for your dance yet, but as always, multiple men asked for your hand for the second dance. But none of them were really interesting, so you politely declined...
"Not even taking a chance with anyone now, are we?" (Sister name) asked as she took a sip from her wine, twirling a strand of hair in her other hand.
"Oh, you bet I would if someone interesting shows up..." You said, scoffing. "Honestly, if there is one thing in this world that I despise, it's the fact that there are good men out there, but we can't go find them... We just have to wait for them to find us." You put a lot of stress on some words to make your point clear.
