We were about to go back to camp when I saw something on the ground. I thought, it couldn't be, but it has to be. "KING!" I yelled and ran to him he was injured. I fell to my knees thinking I lost him. I bent over and laid my head on his shoulder. I heard a yip and felt him shift underneath me. I was filled with joy. I got up and gently picked him up. As I was doing so, I was bawling. We ran back to camp.

"Hurry, get me some water," I yelled with a sob. Jack ran out of camp with a bowl we found on our way out to find King. King was jumping as if he couldn't breath. I was scared.

"I hope he lives." Jack spoke. I got up and walked over to grab the bucket when I heard King's heart stop. I turned around, fell to my knees and picked his head up. I was weeping.

"Why! Why did you have to die-ie! Why!" I was crying so hard that I didn't realize King came back and was trying to get up. I heard Jack yelling but I couldn't make out he was saying. I was hurt too bad to care. I couldn't lose King. Then I felt a warm, sloppy, wet tongue wipe across my face. I wiped my eyes and saw King standing in front me. I jumped up with surprise and screamed. "How are you alive? I heard your heart stop!"

"I don't know, I just feel funny like I shouldn't be walking here on earth. I was halfway up a set of stairs when, BOOM, I was awake breathing." King jumped up and when he landed he looked scared. Then he fell to the ground. I shook him but he didn't move. I started to cry when King gasped for air. "Wow! What a rush."

"What happened? You died again."

"Oh yeah about that. I was told I could come back by some guy at the bottom of the staircase. He told that all I had to do was find the tree of life. I didn't believe him so he gave me a little peace of a leaf from the tree. What happened just now was me dying because the leaf had completely went threw my spirit system. I only have about 3 hours until I have to go back for more leaves from the tree of life. So will you please keep my body with you when I die again. You can also keep moving towards the city."

"I don't want to go to the city anymore, I want to live out here in the middle of nowhere. This is where I want spend the rest of my life with you and Jack. I don't want to go somewhere, where I might be thrown in a home away from my family and friends. I am already far away from home and. . ."

"Hey Linda calm down. Home is where the heart is so you are not far from home. You carry your home with you always." Jack spoke in a calming voice. "Please King listen, you already died and you are not suppose to cheat death like this. Once your dead you are dead so please stop making it hard on Linda and just go, go up to heaven and be with your family."

"No, I can't just leave Linda like this. She still needs me and I still owe her everything for saving my life and not making me go back to my pack." King was arguing with Jack when I told him to go. I will be fine and to consider his debt payed. King walked with Jack and me until we got to the river we set up camp and before we fell asleep King said, "I love you. You are like the friend I never had. Thank you for everything. Will you do me one favor after I am gone, will you please not miss me." I knew King's time was almost up so I decided get up and lay next to him in his final breathes. When morning came I found King's body stiff. I cried for what felt like ever. We didn't move camp that day. I ran what King had said over and over in my head. I missed him dearly. What King had asked was impossible, of course I would miss him. I only wished one thing that I would have been me who was attacked not him.

We buried his body the next day. About an hour after the funeral we packed up and left. I was crying on the way when suddenly I heard whimpering, I stopped crying, and heard it again. I knew I couldn't have been me so I followed the noise and came to a little wolf pup. I asked, "What's wrong little pup." I must have startled it because no sooner then I said that the pup hid. "I am not here to hurt you. Where is you mother?"

"I. . .I don't know. She was suppose to be back three days ago. I called and called for her but she never came back. I am starving and mom hasn't come back. She was never gone for this long before." I got up and called Jack over to me.

"We need to find this pups mother and get this poor thing some food." I turned to the little pup. "We will help you find your mom and we are going to need your help identifying her. Ok. So let's get a move on it." The pup, Jack and I went out in search of the pups mom but we didn't find her. We made camp and the next day we searched some more but we found no trace of his mom. We tried day after day until one day I was walking and I tripped over the carcass of a wolf.

Out of nowhere I heard the pup cry, "Mum! Mum! Are you alright!" There was no response. "Mum! Mum! Wake up! It's me, Mist. Plea-ea-ease get up!" I grabbed up Mist and hugged him. I started to cry along with him. He lost his mom and I lost a close friend.
