Chapter Eight: Fix Things
Josh's Point Of View:
After the bathroom incident Talia seemed a lot more comfortable with me. She wasn't nervous or insecure, it was nice. I looked her over head to toe as she stood beside the car. "You look great." I smiled at her as I pulled open the passenger door for her. I somehow managed to sweet talk my way into driving.
I slid into the driver's seat and closed the door. Talia started giggling in that cute way that she does sometimes. "What?" I questioned her. She shook her head still giggling away before she finally composed herself. "I'm just excited to see the guys again!" She looked over at me excitedly smiling. I couldn't help but smile back at her, she had that effect on me.
When we finally arrived at the pool hall, Talia almost jumped out of the car with excitement. I hopped out to meet her halfway as she skipped across the parking lot. I ran after her laughing. "Well wait for me!" She stopped and turned to give me time to catch up. "You're so slow!" she whined dramatically. I grabbed at her waist to keep her from running away. She looked into my eyes and smiled. I wished this moment never ended.
I gave her a sarcastic look as I I teased her. "Remember... They haven't seen you in awhile, don't be upset if they don't like you." Talia crinkled up her nose and stuck her tongue out at me. "I think I'll be fine!" She cooed as she tickled my sides.
We walked through the doors of the nearly empty pool hall and Talia looked at briefly before she shot off towards a table in the far corner.
Matt's Point Of View:
I grabbed a beer from the bar and walked over to the table to join Ian and Mike. It was just a typical Tuesday afternoon, chilling out at Shenanigans with the boys.
I leaned back into my chair and thought to myself; The boys plus Talia today. I thought about the short conversation I'd had with her and Josh just 45 minutes earlier. I couldn't help but wonder what I interrupted when I called. I got lost in thought and zoned out.
Ian started snapping his fingers in my face to bring me back into reality. "You okay man?" he looked at me with a confused expression. "Yeah, just thinking about Talia and Josh... I called him earlier and I was talking to Talia-" Mike cut me off almost spitting out his beer in shock before he spoke.
"Wow! Did Talia stay at his place last night? Where was Samantha? Did something happen?" Mike kept firing questions at me. "No, no. Josh sent me a text last night saying Samantha was being difficult and that he was staying the night at Talia's place." Mike relaxed a bit. "Oh okay." "Wow, Samantha was being difficult? Surprise, surprise!" Ian said sarcastically as he took a sip of his beer.
I bit my lip trying to decide whether or not to tell the guys about the phone call where I had clearly interrupted something. I shook it off and decided it was probably nothing. As I went to drink from my bottle I looked over at the door to see Josh standing there with a shorter girl with dark brown hair.
The girl looked over at our table and smiled widely. She broke out into a run towards me. "Matt!" She called out excitedly. The guys and I stood up as we heard that familiar cheerful voice. "Talia!" I called back with my arms wide open as she crashed into me I enclosed them around her tightly. "How've ya been!" I asked grinning ear to ear as I looked down at her. I saw the wonderful twinkle in her eyes as she began to blush. "Oh my gosh! I have so much to tell you!" She said wide eyed as she pulled away from me to greet Mike and Ian.
I looked back to see where Josh was and I watched him make his way over to us slowly, not taking his eyes off Talia. "Hey man!" I called to him as I embraced him in a bro hug. He nodded in acknowledgment still watching Talia. I patted him on the back as I talked quietly into his ear. "You've got it bad man."
