The Island Of the Mists
I was once a soldier, made into the right hand in the war of the Island of Mists, the settlement dividing the masked men and us.
Now, I'm nothing more than an outlaw running from what I would have called home before this war.
The masked men, a group of four tyrants who had the new land and world at their fingertips, they crawled here, seeping their darkness into the veins of fresh new lands from where we once hailed and like a virus took over the earth. We all thought we would be the ones to combat it, we all thought we did, but when our walls fell, and the sound of gunfire ran once again our home was gone, and we fled.
However, before the bloodshed and war, we had to first arrive on uncharted shores.
Awaking as soon as we arrived with the sound of the ship bells, heralding the dawn. The kingdom had been slowly growing and expanding. We were all aware that there was tension between the parties back in Le' Wenter. Threats of one party splitting meant that members of the council were walking on eggshells regarding this, the newly dubbed 'Island of Mist' ownership coming into the sole right of one party. I had come here as a farmer, a farmer with very little knowledge of the land. Still, I had been given my tools and a hut which I shared with two other people, two other men who I would fight for my life alongside James and Eret.
The three of us and nine others were staying on a large meadow dedicated for farming, there were also miners somewhere near the coast. Peace here lasted nearly two years if I remember correctly a few days shy of my birthday and it had been a few months since a large stone wall had been built up around our farms. Our land had decreased in size by almost half with new buildings appearing as well as more people.
One of these people was a man who introduced himself as General William Santhen upon arrival. He announced that we would be going to war for a party back in Le' Wenter and he'd be needing soldiers.Everyone who wrote their name down to join including me began to train, we trained until there was no more time. About a month before, we ran out of time. General Santhen selected me as his right-hand man telling me that I was able to make people come alive and listen. Santhen said I had a passion for this new world of mine, he was right. I did. When he decided I'd be his right-hand man, I realised it was a lot more work than just telling people what to do.
I learnt how to do paperwork and communication between bases, and I needed help. So I assigned James to help me, I felt terrible having there be nothing left for Eret to do. Still, he assured me that he wasn't bothered by these things. Then the day came when the first bomb went off, I saw the men who had threatened everyone's lives back home in Le' Wenter reappear at the gates of our settlement.
The Masked Men. Four men serving under the new king of Le' Wenter the king himself being one of these men. The masked men appeared after the assassination of the late king, whose son and now current ruler happened to be the one who orchestrated the assassination due to his temper running thin with his father's constant ignorance of those who took his country for granted. George Reyes ruthless and merciless he had no intention of becoming the new king's right-hand man from what tales have told. Still, the new king promised him the land of his own which he agreed to. That land? This was it.
The king, however, was not just alone with general Reyes, the two of them both had men who stood behind them Peter Umber and Nathan Saps. These two were both horrible people; they burnt down forests and houses, pillaged and murdered and together they were Reyes and the king's perfect duo of chaos. Now, if it were only four people, that wouldn't be scary, but behind them a proper army laid in wait for us. Luckily we had an army of our own at our back. Though we wouldn't be the first to attack, General Santhen made that very clear. " We can't attack first, we don't even know where their army is located, we can't risk losing."
