“So who do you have for first period?” Sean asked politely. He shoved his hands deep into his front pockets with a nervous look plastered onto his face. He looked so cute that I couldn’t help but chuckle a little. I reach into my black bag and pull out the white sheet of paper that had come in the mail yesterday.

“Mrs. Cooper. Who do you have?” I asked.

Without hesitation, he answered, “Mr. Hansen.”

I couldn’t help but feel a bit disappointed that I didn’t have that class with him. Hopefully we would share another one.

“He’s right down the hall from Mrs. Cooper so I’ll show you the way,” He offered. A smile spread across my face but I ducked so he wouldn’t see it. There needed to be more people like him in this world.

“Thanks,” I mumbled. An awkward silence fell between us. Now that our conversation didn’t hold my attention, I noticed the discreet stares. Sure, not every single person was looking my way, but a good 75% was. I knew I was blushing stupidly but there was nothing I could do about it. These was a trait that I could definitely do without.

Sean cleared his throat. “Here we are.”

We stopped in front of a brown wooden door with the word Cooper displayed near the top in big, black, bold letters. It was only halfway closed. Inside, I could see a boy scribbling furiously into a notebook. He reminded me of someone who was writing an essay that was due in five minutes, which was probably what he was doing.

I looked back to say goodbye to Sean but I realized that he had left while I was staring. Because I didn’t want to see everybody staring at me as I walked in, I kept my eyes on the ground.

I regretted it when I slammed into something hard. I frowned at myself. I usually wasn’t so clumsy, but of course I ruined by first impression by running into the wall like an idiot. Everything became worse when I realized a pair of black sneakers were in front of me. I realized with horror that what I ran into might have been human.

Unless of course they designed a robot that just so happened to be wearing jeans and black sneakers,  I thought sarcastically.

I gulped and looked up. “I’m so sorr…” I froze mid-apology.

You know that moment in romance movies when a boy and girl meet for the very first time and the audience just knows that they will end up together? That’s what I felt like as I locked eyes with this blue-eyed stranger. He had the most mesmerizing blue eyes I’d ever seen. They were the color of the ocean on a very sunny day and even seemed to sparkle like the ocean as well. He had dark hair that was just long enough to cover the top of his forehead. I was starting to believe in love at first sight.

That is, until he opened his mouth.

“I’m waiting,” He said. He crossed his arms over his very muscular chest and I noted how his arm muscles bulged out too. My eyes trailed down his defined figure with amazement. He even had a sweet body.

I snapped out of my trance when he cleared his throat. His once dreamy blue eyes were clouded with annoyance. I finally realized what he had said to me. “Excuse me?” I asked in disbelief.

“I’m waiting for my apology,” He said. My mouth hung open in shock. Was he serious? By the look on his face, I could tell he was.

“You can’t just ask for an apology!” I said. His blue eyes hardened even more and he took a step closer to me.

“Why not?” He all but growled at me. I almost recoiled from the harshness of his voice, but I surprisingly managed to hold my ground.

“That’s not how an apology works,” I told him confidently. He chucked, but there was no humor that came with it.

“Look, you little slut, I don’t know who you think you are. Nobody can talk to me like that and get away with it without facing the consequences,” He told me with a low, threatening voice.

He’s charming, isn’t he?

My brave smile faltered a little bit when I heard his threat. It didn’t take a genius to know that this guy was dangerous. I didn’t know why I didn’t just let it go and back down. I did the exact opposite.

“I don’t know who you think you are. Technically, you’re the one that bumped into me so you actually owe me an apology,” I replied. I felt the urge to stick out my tongue but that might be a little immature.

I have to admit, I was pretty terrified now. He was getting angrier and angrier. I tried not to let him see that I was being affected, though. He looked like he was ready to throttle me and I swear I saw his hand twitch in anticipation. I swallowed nervously.

Dying was definitely not on my to-do list for today. Thankfully, I was saved by a boy with blonde hair and deep emerald eyes.

“Jay, man, calm down,” He said gruffly to my attacker. His voice was rough but still I noticed that he didn’t sound like he was ordering anything.

Jay, which I guess his name was, slowly unclenched his fists. I heard him sigh. The guy with blonde hair put a hand on Jay’s shoulder and cautiously led him away. Neither one of them even glanced in my direction again.

I had to blink my eyes a few times to shock myself out of my daze. There was pure fury in Jay’s eyes when he looked at me. I guess he wasn’t used to people standing up to him.

Well that was going to change, I promised myself then and there.

I was not going to let Jay get to me. Ever. Again.

I'm sorry that this chapter is sort of short. I had originally made it longer but I decided that this would be a pretty good place to end it. Sorry for the long wait, I don't usually take that long to upload.

I usually upload at least once a week, maybe more often if I get the time.

Please tell me what you think! Is it worth continuing?
