Emily
I opened my eyes and looked around me, I was on a floor, staring up at the sky through a sun roof. My head hurt slightly and I felt numb, but other than that, I seemed to be fine. I wasn't sure if I should get up, my kidnappers could be watching me.
"I know you're awake, you can get up." A booming voice said. It was male, and sounded old, yet rich, like a historic monument well-taken care of. I got up quickly, I was stronger standing up.I took a better look around me, the walls were windowless, and there were two others on the floor where I was seconds ago. A woman and a man, they were unconscious.
"Where am I?" I directed towards the voice, I couldn't see anyone else in the room but he definitely spoke."Before we get to speaking, let me introduce myself. I'm the Head, the man who organized for you 3 to be brought to me." The voice said, as if that cleared anything up.
"Why am I here? And why can't I see you?" The man chuckled, "In good time, Emily, I will explain everything in good time."I was about to remark back when I heard a groan beside me, I looked down to see the woman waking up. She stared at the ceiling for a second before jumping up, a storm in her blue eyes. She glared at me, "Start talking before I choke you little girl..." I scoffed, she was as much a "little girl" as I was, "Don't get me wrong, I know nothing about why we're here either."
"Leah! You've woken up too, at this rate we'll be finished explaining and ready to go in no time, we just need to wait for the last one..." "How do you know why name and where is my sword?" The woman, Leah, seethed, ignoring his cheery voice.
"Impatient humans... I will explain everything-..." I was yanked backwards and yelped as I slammed into someone's chest, a blade was suddenly pressed to my throat, "Start talking, or I'll kill her." The man holding me said in a cold voice to Leah, what was with people and threatening me today?"Hey buddy, she doesn't know either, none of us do. And why does he get to have a weapon?!" Leah whined at the voice, I was let go and shoved forward. I glared at the man, "I swear on the Goddess if one more person threatens to kill me today..."
"ENOUGH!" The voice roared, making my ears ring, "If you 3 would just let me explain none of this would've happened... Now, as I was saying, my name is The Head. I've brought you lot here for a greater cause, for the safety of humanity as we know it."
He took a pause, but none spoke, we were ready to hear his part, "You know very well about nightmares and how bad they can get, you know how challenging it is to fight someone's fears. But, what if I told you, it's going to get much, much worse?" "The nightmares have started to learn, and after thousands of years of being under humans, they're rising to power again. But not on their own, they are in partnership with the demons of hell, which are much stronger than anything you've ever seen. Now that's why you three are here, you're here to take down the demons before they take over the world, never mind our sleep."
Jordan
This man must've been out of his mind. Nightmares were nightmares, and that was that. Wasting my damn time to tell me about some stupid story... but seeing as he clearly wasn't going to let me just leave, I would have to find a way to escape.Leah
"Well wasn't that a dramatic turn of events?" I thought as "The Head" said his speech, I turned to look how the others reacted, the man, looked thoroughly pissed while the woman looked blank. They weren't much of a help...Seeing as nobody else looked particularly moved by what he just said, I decided it was best to just leave.
The Head
I looked at them, hoping for a scream, faces of fear, even a gasp. But they said nothing, and looked as if I told them pigs could fly."Well? What do you say?" I said, hoping for some more reactions, "I say that you're speaking crap and I'd like to leave." Jordan, the hot-headed one of the three said. He turned around and made for the door, I sighed, while he was there pointlessly trying to escape, I looked to the girls.
Leah, the bravest and most outgoing of the three, spoke next, "Seeing as nobody else wants to be here, I'll be going too." She strutted to the wall and started skillfully climbing the walls using the nooks and crannies.
Lastly, I looked to Emily, hoping she would be wiser than her companions, she was quiet for a moment then sighed, "It's no use trying to escape you two, if he wanted us to stay here he wouldn't of just left the door open, or the sunroof."
Right on cue.
Jordan flew harshly away from the door and Leah fell back into the floor, my witches had really outdone themselves making sure they couldn't leave. Jordan groaned as he got up and Leah hopped back onto her feet, unfazed.
"Smart girl," I looked to Emily, "Any questions?"
"Look, even if you were saying the truth, how are we supposed to take done demon-enforced nightmares? We already struggle taking done normal ones..." she asked. Finally, we were getting somewhere!"I've already thought about that, I have old, strong witches and blacksmiths who will do everything in their power to make it easier for you. It's just they cannot make anything very useful at the moment because the new nightmares haven't been encountered with yet."
"So what do you expect us to do?" Jordan scoffed, "I want you to go into peoples nightmares as usual, and keep fighting nightmares until you stumble across the demon ones."
"What?! That's just going to get us killed!" Leah remarked, folding her arms. Emily was silent.
"It's the only way to see how strong they are. And it's not like you aren't prepared, you've been taking the same risk every day of your life, it's what you were trained to do."
"And why are we supposed to trust you?""You don't, just try it out and when you encounter the demon nightmares you'll believe me." I said matter-of-factually, they didn't look convinced.
"Look, just try it out. You'll live in a huge mansion together, you don't even have to look at each other for the time being. I will make sure everything you need or want, you have. There will be the strongest catchers there to train you everyday. You have nothing else to worry about except finding those nightmares. Okay?"
They all looked at one another, considering their options, (well, lack there of really) and after a few minutes, they spoke,
"We'll do it, but if we can't find anything you owe us a million dollars for risking it." Leah said,
"I guess, seeing as I don't have much of a choice." Emily muttered,
"Whatever, if I die, it's on you." Jordan sighed, giving in."Perfect, let's get you three going, shall we?"
