I didn't know how long we were like that on the park bence but when I finally let go of her my heart wasn't in pain anymore. It was still sore but there was something completely new there.

"I'm sorry," I said quietly and wiped my eyes.

"Don't be," Shelia said with a sad smile on her face.

I let out a silent sigh. I didn't remember that crying takes so much energy out of you. "I wish you would have told me sooner." I said, looking at my lap.

"Me too," I heard her saying.

"Cornelia.." Shelia raised my chin gently so I would be looking at her. "Do you think you could love me one day?" she asked.

I could see the nervousness, fear and adrenaline in her eyes. I almost let out a short laugh. "What are you talking about? Shelia, I have never not loved you and now that I think about it, I think I got a crush on you in elementary school."

Shelia frowned. "Wait... What?"

I shook my head. "I mean of course I have always liked you, we wouldn't be friends otherwise. And... I love you." I said while looking at her. Her eyes got bigger. Although, I had said those three words before it had never felt like that before. It felt like this was my first time saying it.

"I didn't know what kind of love it was," I continued, "to be honest, I think it has changed many times over the time. But I have always liked you. Maybe as a friend, or maybe as a close person to me but, Shelia... I have loved you too."

I had never thought of the things that I was saying. I had never realized any of it but everything that I was saying was coming from my heart and I meant every word.

Shelia looked at me and then, with a calm look on her face, softly punched my upper arm.

"Ow," I said, confused. "What for?"

"Partly because you hit me before and partly because you dumbass never said that before."

"I only realized it myself just now." I said rubbing my hand absent-mindedly.

Ruby shook her head gently and then planted a soft kiss on my arm. Her kiss did weird things to my belly and heart.

"Cornelia Montano, you absolute dumbass, would you like to be my girlfriend?" Shelia said while holding my right arm with both of her hands.

I felt my cheeks going warm and my heart felt like it was running a marathon.

"Uh," I said.

Shelia got a bit more closer and whispered to my ear, "It's simple, if you don't like me you say no and if you do like me you say yes." She got back to the position she was before and looked at me with a smile.

I looked at her face that had never before looked so glowing and beautiful. Did I liked what I was seeing? Heck yeah! And did I already loved her soul? Of course!

"Yes?" I said.

Shelia lowered her head and let out a quiet chuckle. She then raised her head. "Good." she said. Shelia let go of my hand and cupped my cheeks instead. I knew what she was about to do and I felt like I was about to melt on that bench like a ice cream on a summer day. I closed my eyes and my best friend since kindergarten, recently promoted to be my first girlfriend ever, softly kissed my lips.
