Hermione looked at Lilith with terror. "You can't be serious."
Lilith didn't know what to do. She wasn't prepared to give an excuse. She didn't plan for anything like this.
Draco looked at Lilith and saw the fear in her eyes. "Leave her to me, I'll obliviate her."
As much as Lilith didn't want anybody to find out about her secret, Hermione was still her best friend. "No, Draco don't. Let me explain Hermione."
Looking horrified, Hermione remembered who Lilith said her parents were: "You...You said your parents worked for the Ministry Of Magic..."
Lilith remembered her first-day meeting Hermione. Well, Hermione had approached her as she saw Lilith sitting alone beside the fountain. At first, Hermione tried to start a conversation with Lilith but she wasn't exactly a bubbly person. Eventually, Lilith started to open up and began to talk more. Hermione asked her usual questions like if she had any siblings and where her parents worked. Lilith did have a brother that was older than her but he was born a squib so Lilith's parents disowned him...
However, If she told the truth (that her parents were death eaters), Hermione would've told Harry and Ron and they would've tried to get information out of her.
Lilith stuttered before saying "My parents...they made me."
Lilith could tell Draco was about to threaten her into keeping it a secret but before he could get a word out, Hermione shouts: "THAT'S A LIE! ADMIT IT! YOU'RE AS EVIL AS HIM!"
Lilith felt a sudden pang in her heart. Her best friend, somebody who she would trust with her life, didn't even believe her. "Hermione... Please I'm not lying," Lilith said holding back her tears.
But before she could say anything else Hermione ran off to most likely tell Ron and Harry.
Draco mutters something under his breath before saying: "Leave her. Mudbloods are always pathetic."
"Why can't I be normal?!" Lilith yelled. Draco could see tears swelling up in her eyes.
"Hey, hey! You are normal. Getting the mark wasn't optional." Draco quickly says before wiping the tears off Lilith's face.
Lilith looked at Draco. He wasn't a tough bully. He had a heart. "Draco, you're actually a decent friend." Lilith smiled. It all happened so fast. Now, Lilith had somebody to confide in. A friend that wouldn't judge her. But before she could say thank you she saw Draco check the time and straighten his suit. "Wait... Where are you going?" Lilith asked cautiously.
Draco stopped for a moment. "To this meeting."
Lilith looked at him in shock. So, that explained why Draco would leave class early. She remembered the letter she got from her Mother. It went something like this:
Dear Lilith,
I hope you are doing well.
Your father and I miss you terribly.
It's so peaceful at home, without you.
However, we have received a complaint about you.
Professor Snape has written to me and stated YOU had a duel with a classmate.
I must say it was rather daring to battle somebody at your age.
We hear that you won and as much as we are proud of you,
This must never happen again.
