Chapter Thirteen
"So what do we do about the bombs?" I asked her as she was getting dressed.
"By when do you want them ready?" she asked me back.
"Tomorrow afternoon."
"Okay." she answered, "I'll have them ready by the morning."
"Where did you learn to do this Lola?"
"What? Bomb-making?"
"Yeah."
"My father used to work in an explosives industry. All that I know about bombs and grenades comes from him."
"Really? He used to teach you?"
"I used to watch and learn."
"Smart girl." I said.
"Thank you. I'll only be able to give you the explosives if you give me the materials by tonight."
"I'll try to arrange for that." I replied, "I'm sure we can manage."
"Alright. So what now?" she asked me.
"What do you mean 'what now'?" I asked her back.
"You know, with what just happened a few minutes ago."
I looked at her.
"I thought we agreed it was the heat of the moment." I said.
"It felt like something more than just that."
"Okay," I walked to her as she was fully dressed now, "what did it feel like?"
And then she replied in a softer voice than I'd heard her in so far.
"Felt like love." she answered.
Wow, it hadn't even been hour and a half that we'd gotten to know each other and she was already talking about love.
"Are you sure?" I asked her.
"I don't know. But I'm certain of one thing. I don't dance for anyone without getting paid."
"And?" I asked her.
"And I just did that for you. So I hope you know that that means a lot."
"I know it does," I kissed her on the forehead, "you're a great girl Lily."
"I've been told." she replied.
"So do we call Sal and Newt in?"
"You think they're right outside?"
"Yeah. Why?"
"Nothing. I'm just worried that they might've heard us."
"You weren't that loud." I laughed, "Let's see if they're there."
And we discovered that they were a little farther than just outside the room.
"Sal!" said I, "Guys! Come on in we're done."
And they came at my first call. God it was nice to have such authority.
"So what's the plan?" asked Newt once we were all in.
"The plan is," I began, "that we get Lola the raw materials by tonight. She's gonna make the bombs, and she's gonna give them to us by tomorrow morning. And then we proceed as discussed earlier."
"Who the hell are you gonna attack?" asked Lily, and we all were silent for a while.
"Ian Teller." said I, and Newt and Sal looked at me but I assured them that it was alright.
