Hi reader!
I would like to start this little note to you, by thanking you very much for giving this book a chance. I have been wanting to publish one for the longest time, and this is a story that I hope will be the first of many. Most of the time, writing this, I haven't really known what I've been doing - it's been a very 'wing it' sort of process. So, it means a lot to me that you think this book could be worth reading.
I would like to add, here, that the setting for this story is inspired by a small town in New Zealand, that I visited a while ago. I fell in love with that country and there was a particular neighbourhood that I stumbled across, which seemed like the perfect setting for this story. I have, though, made a few tweaks to it, to make it suit the story just right.
I feel I need to apologise for any mistakes I may have made, in my representation of the countries in this book (New Zealand and Malaysia); I have been writing from an outsider's point of view. Besides the settings, however, the people, events and themes of this story are entirely fictional, and have nothing to do with my stay in New Zealand, or any other real place.
Also, though I know there aren't going to be many people reading this, and it is certainly no masterpiece, I would like to make some 'dedications'. I want to say that I am so, so thankful to my family and friends, who have always been so eager to share this process with me (big shout out to my uncle and aunt - you know who you are!).
Thank you to the people who took me around New Zealand, and planted this love I have for it in my heart (you know who you are too!).
I would, too, like to apologise to those whom I have spent long hours boring with never-ending talks (ok, monologues) about New Zealand, and how I was so excited to write this part, or that, of my story; or how this one. damned. plot point. was not working out right. I know I have bored you all to death, but please know it meant so much for me to be able to pour it all into your ears.
Thank you again, very very much, for choosing to read my little project. I hope that my writing lives up to your expectations, and that you enjoy this book as much as I certainly have, writing it.
Your humbled writer,
IzzySuri
