Warnings: Angst, reader death, Order 66
"Blast him!"
As soon as your boyfriend said that, you knew it was all over. Darkness was all you could feel in the Force, no light at all. Cody wasn't your Cody anymore. He'd been consumed by something that was controlling him. You didn't know what it was. You knew that Cody would never try to hurt your Master or you. You wanted to run over to where Master Kenobi had fell, but you knew you would be caught. You had to get off of this system and somehow get back to the Jedi Temple.
"Find the padawan and bring her to me. I will be the one to execute her for treason."
Small tears fell down your face. The tears weren't for you, they were for Cody. You knew you couldn't help him from whatever was controlling him. You wanted to, but you couldn't. You realized that you weren't going to make it back to the Jedi Temple. You were going to die here on Utapau by the hands of your lover.
You thought about trying to talk to Cody but you didn't think it would work. You knew that Cody would try to use that time to try and kill you but you needed to talk to him. You just needed to get him alone.
----
Cody was walking by. He was alone and no other clone trooper was in the area. It was time and you only have one chance to try and change his mind.
"Cody! I need to talk to you." you said softly, as you grabbed the clone's wrist and pulled him towards you.
Cody jerked his wrist from your hold. He stepped back and you were met with his blaster in your face. Your eyes widened as Cody clicked the safety off. You thought it would be easy to talk to him.
"Traitor! Don't talk to me, Jedi Scum." Cody hissed at you. You slowly grabbed the blaster, clicking the safety back on, and throwing the blaster on the ground.
You knew that Cody could just pick up the blaster again and kill you in a second. You also knew that Cody could still kill you without a blaster. You also knew that if Cody was going to kill you he would have already done it. He probably wanted an explanation, just like you did.
"Cody, why am I a traitor? I didn't do anything at all. What's going on, cyar'ika?" you asked, risking a step closer towards your lover.
Cody narrowed his eyes at you and looked down at his blaster on the ground, then back up at you. "Don't call me that. You had no right to call me that after you betrayed my brothers and I."
Reasoning with Cody was always a problem. He was stubborn but now it was even more of a problem. You had no idea what was going on and Cody wasn't helping. You would never betray the clones or the Republic.
"Cody, you know that I'd never betray you or your brothers. I've fought by your side ever since I became apprenticed to Master Kenobi. Why would I ever betray you? Where did you ever get that idea?" You responded through your tears. You caressed Cody's cheek, not noticing the way Cody shifted towards the blaster.
The clone was tormented in his head. Something in the back of his mind knew that you would never betray the Republic, him, or his brothers. Cody knew that killing you was something he would never purposely do. In fact, he didn't want to kill you. He loved you and he was trying to resist the Order that was consuming him. He wanted to wrap you in his arms and get you away from the danger. The Order was stronger than Cody and the clone was going to have to kill you.
You could see the confusion in Cody's eyes. You could feel the pain, sadness, and confusion from him through the Force. You couldn't save Cody, not this time, but you were still going to try.
Cody shifted again. He clenched his fists and resisted the urge to grab his blaster. "The Jedi, they teamed up with the Separatists to take over the Republic! They're traitors just like you! How could you join the Separatists?" Cody shouted, his face twisted in rage.
"I never joined them! I didn't even know the Jedi joined the Separatists! They would never do it!" you shouted back in shock. You refused to believe it. The Jedi couldn't have joined the Separatists. It wasn't possible, they couldn't have. "Why would we join the Separatists after we fought them for years? We protected the Republic for years! Why would we take over the Republic?!" you said, quietly.
Cody glared at you. "Don't act like you didn't know. I bet all of you Jedi were going to betray us from the start. It was just an act. So tell me, Jedi, was our relationship just an act? Did you ever love me?" Cody snarled, stepping even closer to the blaster.
Your eyes widened in shock and you were full on crying. You couldn't believe what Cody just said. "Of course I love you. I've always loved you, Cody. It was never an act. I love you, cyar'ika."
Cody eyes softened for a brief second before turning cold again. "LIAR! YOU'VE NEVER LOVED ME!" Cody screamed out.
It happened in an instant. You hadn't seen it coming. Cody slammed you into the wall and a loud bang was heard right before the bullet pierced through your heart. You slumped on the ground, gasping for breath, as blood pooled out of you.
"I l-l-love you, Cody. I forgive you, c-c-cyar'ika." you choked out as darkness consumed you. Cody, no CC-2224, marched on, oblivious to the fact that he had just killed his lover.
