"Unrequited love can be survived in a way once-requited love cannot."
Those words sparked a bit of hope in kou. But a part of him keeps saying, 'you cant make something non-exsisting survive, you cant bring back what is never there.'
He laughed, at how pessimistic he sounds. Kou hopped off his bed and grab a jacket, slipping it on along with a pair of black converse. He made his way out of his house, thinking that maybe a walk can ease his mind alittle. It was still early in the afternoon, it was peaceful. Children playing around the streets, the sound of chirping of the birds and the giggles of kids are heard.
He passed by a playground and he noticed a girl, sitting onnthe swings with her head down surrounded by 3 other boys who seem much bigger than her."Ugly!"
"Thats why nobody wants to play with her."
"What a weirdo."
The scene was almost like deja vu. He walked over behind the 3 boys.
"Oi, is that how you treat a princess?" He asked, in a serious tone.
Feeling the huge shadow over them the 3 boys cower in fear.
"You boys shouldn't pick on kids smaller than you." They shakily nodded And ran off like cowards with their tails between their legs. Kou strolled over to the girl, who stared at him with eyes wide in astonishment. He gave her a sweet smile.
"I'm Machida Kou, whats your name little princess?"
"Honda Akemi," she shyly introduced, playing with the hem of her shirt.
"Well, princess Akemi, if they ever bother you again just come tell me. Okay?"
She bopped her head up and down, "Arigato, onii-chan."
He smiled, ruffling the girl's hair playfully.
"Ne, onii-chan, do you have a princess? A prince should have a princess right?" She asked him with hopeful eyes.
With a sad smile he replied
"I do, but she probably doesn't see me as her prince."
