A thick, opaque swarm of mist veils a lonesome quarter moon, projecting a dim brilliance over the Leo Pond.
"Why are you so fucking late?" Yoojung snaps before Soojung can even greet her, "You were the one who told me to come here at this hour. The guards were such a fucking hassle to deal with."
An apology dither over Soojung's tongue like usual, but tonight, she fails to say anything to her she-devil of a sister.
"Answer me. Why are you looking at me like this? I am leaving if you don't have anything important to say," Yoojung snarls, her deep frown accentuating the stiffness of her new Botox nose.
Soojung straightens her back like an origami crane that's stiffly adjusting the angle of its perfectly positioned paper wings.
"I just wanted to talk to you about CS Media, Yoojung. I don't want to get into a fight. You have been quite obnoxious of late. I heard that you exploited your power to—"
"Who the fuck do you think you are to tell me what to do, Yoon Soojung?" Yoojung hauls Soojung's collar and motions to slap her.
Soojung frowns and twists Yoojung's forearm to fling her to the ground. Her knuckles crack, and before she knows it, she has already swung her hand across Yoojung's cheeks.
"I am your older sister, Yoojung," Soojung utters.
"You are such a bitch. What are you doing right now? I'm going to tell father," Yoojung barks, her arms floundering to strike Soojung.
Yoojung's insult fuels the flames in Soojung's violently pounding chest. She catches Yoojung's arm and drags her towards the Leo Pond with an unyielding grip. Yoojung kicks her legs, feebly trying to break free like a rabbit trying to crawl out of a tiger's mouth.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?" Yoojung roars.
Yoojung's scream forces a faint, mesmerising voice to shoot through Soojung from all directions—behind her ear, over her head, through her heartbeat.
Mute it.
Soojung shakes her head and forces her grip to loosen. No matter how annoying Yoojung is, she is still her sister. But just as she pulls her hands away from Yoojung's black locks, Yoojung shoots up from the ground and pounds her palm against Soojung's cheek.
"You are a fucking psycho. Are you trying to kill me?" Yoojung cries.
Soojung shuts her eyes. She was never treated with a shred of respect. Bitch, psycho, weirdo, freak, monster. At this point, it almost feels like these insults are her actual name.
"For once in your life..." Soojung murmurs. She tightens her knuckles which are as pale as the moon reflected in the pond behind Yoojung. "You are absolutely right."
Before Yoojung could emit another sound, Soojung thrusts her into the pond. Her weight strikes the tranquil water with a soft splash that quickly gets drowned along with her head at Soojung's vicious hand. The poor eighteen-year-old desperately shakes her head and flails her limbs to object to her older sister's attack. But her efforts are futile. Soon, before she could even make a loud enough splash, her consciousness drowns in the depths of the pond.
Soojung winces from Yoojung's still body that bobs beneath the water without a sound.
Did she kill her sister? No, Yoojung could still be alive.
But does she want to save her? No way.
If Yoojung wakes up, she will definitely tell their father about what happened tonight, and once their father knows, Taehyung will probably know as well. Soojung's reputation will be ruined.
