FOUR YEARS LATER
Y/N POV
"Jaehyun, baby, come here, we're running late," I called out to the three-year-old boy, who was preoccupied with chewing on his suit tie. Ignoring my plea, he continued to mess with the clothes I had laid out on the bed. "We need to get ready quickly," I urged him, gently picking him up to start dressing him.
"Your father is celebrating his company's Silver Jubilee, and we must arrive on time," I informed the boy, to which he responded with a toothy grin and a nod of understanding. "New dress," he exclaimed, pointing excitedly at the new suit in my hand.
"Yes, my darling, you'll be wearing this. Do you like it?" I asked, showering him with affection. "Yes," he replied firmly, his enthusiasm for the new clothes evident in his response.
"Come here, sweetheart," I beckoned, extending my hand for him to crawl closer as I began to dress him. While buttoning his shirt, he tugged at my hair, amusing himself with the strands. I smiled at his playful antics, focusing on getting his little legs into his pants. "There we go, my handsome boy is all dressed up," I remarked, admiring his appearance.
I noticed the blush on Jaehyun's face as he heard my compliment, and I finished dressing him, pinning his tie to his shirt to prevent any more chewing. "Be a good boy and play with your toys until I get ready, okay?" I instructed him. Jaehyun nodded obediently and settled in the center of the bed, engrossed in his toys.
As I prepared to get dressed for the party, I glanced back at Jaehyun, knowing we had only an hour before we needed to leave. Handling everything with a baby in tow was challenging, and I wished Jungkook was there to assist me. However, he had left me alone to manage Jaehyun, anticipating the chaos the young boy could create.
After finishing my hair and makeup, I returned to check on Jaehyun and found him holding my phone and engaged in a conversation with someone. "Baby, please give me my phone," I politely requested, hoping he would comply. Instead, he turned away from me, continuing his pretend conversation on the phone, oblivious to my request.
"Whom are you talking to?" I inquired as Jaehyun carried on his animated conversation. "Buy me cho-late and I ate an apple today and banana and beriews and milk and mommy made me...." His stream of words detailing his day's food intake left me with a smile, as he prattled on without pause, not allowing the other person on the line to get a word in.
"Baby, give me the phone," I gently tugged at his hand, trying to retrieve the device from his grasp. His determined expression indicated that he was not quite ready to end his monologue.
"Hello?" I answered the phone after finally managing to take it from Jaehyun, hearing a deep sigh from the other end. "Thank goodness, y/n, that boy was chattering away for a good ten minutes. Please don't give him your phone again," the voice on the phone expressed in exasperation.
"Tae, he's just a little kid," I chuckled, amused by the complaint about Jaehyun's talkative nature. "Anyway, why did you call me?"
"Y/n, it's already time, and you're the only one yet to arrive," Taehyung informed me, making me realize that I was running late for the party. "Jungkook is on his way to pick you up," he added, prompting me to hurry up and join the celebration.
"Yes, Tae, I'm almost done. I'll be there soon," I assured him before ending the call and moving over to Jaehyun to style his hair.
After finishing his hairstyle, I got myself ready, informing Jaehyun that Jungkook would be picking us up for the party. I lifted him into my arms and headed to the living room to wait for Jungkook.
We waited for a few minutes until the sound of the front door opening signaled Jungkook's arrival. "Y/n," he greeted me with a smile, noticing me and Jaehyun waiting for him. "Are we late?"
