Avery
I awake the next morning wrapped tightly in Jace's strong arms. The feeling of his skin against mine, causes me to shiver as I roll over and out of his grip.
Again, I somehow managed to sleep through the whole night without a nightmare or even a thought of my parents. It almost seems as if Jace keeps the nightmares away. As crazy as it seems, I almost believe it to be true.
A small smile crosses my face as I reach over and shake Jace's shoulder. He looks so sexy lying there sleeping, I almost don't even want to wake him up, but I know I don't have a choice. "Good morning," I whisper.
Jace slowly opens his eyes and stretches, a smile lighting up his rugged features. Then he runs his hands over his chest and adjusts his pants.
The bulge in his thin pants makes me blush unwantedly as I turn my eyes away. "What time is it?" He yawns.
I glance over at my phone, which has three missed calls from Caleb. I pick it up and clear the screen off, not bothering to care what he wants. It's best for him if I'm out of his life anyhow. I do nothing but bring him down. He needs to move on. "It's half past ten."
Jace swiftly jumps up and crawls out of the bed, a worried look on his face. "Oh shit." He runs his hands over his face and yawns again. "We need to get ready for work and fast. The rush starts in thirty minutes."
A smile crosses his handsome face before he leans down and places a short kiss on my lips, his breathing soft and even as he cups my face. "I'll skip a shower so you can take one. Meet me out front in twenty minutes."
I shake my head and reach for his arm when he begins to walk away.
I can't believe I'm about to say this.
"Take one with me. There's no reason why you should miss a shower because of me." I smile small and walk past him and to the shower.
I'm in the shower for a few minutes, before Jace steps in with me, running his hands down my wet arms.
He's behind me so I can't see him, but I can feel his body against mine and I have to admit that it feels so damn good.
Kissing my neck, he helps me wash up, before spinning me around and cupping my face. "I wish we had more time." His eyes lower over my body. "I could stay in here all day with you if it meant I'd get to touch you like this."
Swallowing hard, my eyes roam his body, stopping before I can get to what I truly want to see. Something in me just isn't ready to see all of him yet.
"I should get dressed," I manage to get out. "And let you finish up."
"Yeah," he whispers. "We don't want to be late."
Nodding, I step out of the shower, taking a deep breath as I reach for a towel and quickly run to get dressed.
We end up making it to the diner with only a minute to spare.
The parking lot seems pretty empty for the diner to be busy, but Jace still rushes over to the door, holding it open for us to walk in.
We enter the diner to see Winston and Stacy casually leaning against the counter having conversation.
Clearly, we've beaten the rush.
Stacy grins, flashing us her dimples as she runs over and throws her arms up in excitement. "Guess who's coming to see me today?" She bites her bottom lip and waits for an answer. "Hurry and guess!"
Jace and I both look at each other and then back at Stacy with a small smile.
"The guy you're dating..."
