I was zooming through my small apartment because I was running late for my class. And I swear I put up four alarms, I can't believe that I snoozed them all. Maybe I should've added more since, after my bar job, I had to stay up all night making my presentation for today's lecture. I dropped out cold after an hour of working and didn't get to finish it but I know I can cram the rest on the bus.
It was already noon but I couldn't eat a heavy lunch so I grabbed a biscuit from my fridge and started to run to the bus stop.
================
I arrive late and the bus leaves without me. I sigh and sit down at the bus stop. I look up at the sky and see a conspiracy, a group of ravens, and they seem to be particularly drawn to the house beside the bus stop. It had creepy house vibes emanating from it. I shudder and push back any weird thoughts I had about the house.
I fish out my phone out of my bag and check the time, "Yeah, I got time," I mutter to myself. I take out my stuff and start to fix my appearance. I put on my earrings and slip on my rings. I tried to put on my necklace but I couldn't close the clasp. My hands fumble at the back of my neck until I drop the necklace from the strain. I sigh and tried to pick it up but a raven swoops it before I could.
I watch where the raven was heading and I saw it fly in the creepy house. Oh, no...
I gather my stuff and tread to the porch of the house. The floorboards groaned as I took a step on their porch. The house looked really old, the paint was peeling off and it looked lifeless, except for the plants on their lawn. The grass and plants were beautifully groomed and were greener than their neighbor's. So I took it as a sign that someone was living there.
I press the doorbell and waited for someone to open the door. I was starting to get impatient since the bus was about to arrive and I was really really late for my class but I couldn't really leave without my necklace since it was one of the few items that my late grandfather had left for us and I'd started to believe it was somewhat lucky since it had saved me so many times.
===============
The bus already left and I didn't bother trying to get to class. The necklace was more important so I stayed put outside their door.
I was admiring their plants on their porch when the door opened and there was a beautiful person. They had a slender physique, chocolate skin, dripping wet brown hair that reached their shoulders, and rich purple eyes. My eyes started to drift down to their lower regions and I realized that they were taking a bath and my face felt really hot. My eyes trail back down their slender body and felt more ashamed of what was happening in my head. I couldn't speak a word but I had to get my necklace.
"I believe you rang the bell?" They said in a deep voice. I stood there gawking. Holy crap, this person's really really hot. I managed a nod and tried to explain what happened. They chuckled and ushered me in.
I was clearly surprised to see that their interior was more welcoming and clean than their house exterior. "Pardon me, but I have to dress up. Feel free to sit wherever you like." They said as they rushed down the stairs.
The house smelled like apple pie and their overall house was somewhat nostalgic. I looked around and saw lots of plants and herbs in their kitchen. Their living room was surrounded by books to the ceiling and their dining room was only a small table with three chairs. I found a leather seat and waited for the beautiful stranger.
They walk down in a brown sweater and black slacks. They tied their hair up and was wearing thin-rimmed glasses. They were smiling at me and I had to remind myself why I was here.
