day three

this is a poem

for the kids who never learnt how to cope with their feelings

who were told to shut up, keep it down, don't rock the boat

who were told to suck it up because your feelings don't matter

this is a poem

for the adults who grew up tamping things down

who live with quiet anger colouring every emotion

- yes, even happiness -

because they never learnt

and this is a poem

for you

because i seethe at the injustice of the world

and bubble with irrational anger at tiny quirks

and you told me i couldn't change anything

so why bother trying?
