Slowly my eyes fluttered open and my mother's face appeared in my blurry vision. I blinked a few times to clear it then tried to sit up. "Oh, Lea, I was so worried about you! Don't try to sit up, you're still too weak." She exclaimed, pushing me back onto the soft bed.

"What happened?" I croaked out, my cracked lips barely moving. My shoulder ached dully and thoughts of the battle flashed through my mind.

"Well... you passed out from chakra loss and stress. Lord Madara said he carried you all the way home when they traveled back this morning and you've only been out for around half a day." She clasped my hand then leaned closer. "Lea," she smiled slightly, "Yumi is here. She is your sister but no one can know, alright? I've agreed to take care of her so she'll be staying with us."

My eyes widened with every word she spoke. That girl from the woods was my sister. But, she was covered in bruises... "Mom, what happened to her?"

She sighed and tucked a loose strand of my hair behind my ear. "I think I will let Yumi tell you everything." She pulled the curtain beside her back, revealing Yumi in the bed next to mine.

I sat up completely and turned toward her. We stared for a few seconds, taking in each other's features. We both had our mother's black hair; her's shoulder-length while mine was waist-length. Other than that, we were different. She had bright green eyes while mine were ice-blue. I had a multitude of freckles across my body while she had none. Her overall expression was soft while mine was sharper and more worried.

"Um... hi..." She offered, with a slight wave of her hand and a small smile. Even her voice was soft to match her expression.

I smiled back, "Hi... I'm Lea, but mom probably told you already..."

"She did... Um, well, you asked what happened so guess I should tell you. I found my way to your camp after running away from the Senju clan. I was outside of our village, picking herbs when an Uchiha forced himself upon me, and three months later, I found out I was pregnant."

Tears rolled down her cheeks; no doubt she was reliving the pain. "I tried to explain to the elders what happened but— they didn't believe me and didn't want any part of me so I was basically free game for anyone to hurt if they saw me." She drew in a shaky breath and wrapped her arms around her bent knees.

"They beat me but I was able to escape. I lived in the woods for a few days but then heard the battle and found your camp that night. I waited for the right moment to appear to someone since I didn't want you guys to kill me..." She trailed off, staring straight ahead.

My heart ached for her. "How old are you?" I asked.

"Twenty." It was no more than a whisper but the number echoed through me. Twenty. Two years younger than me... poor girl. "I'm very thankful the Uchiha are willing to take me in and I understand that not everyone here is bad like the man who raped me..."

"I'm so sorry, Yumi. I can't believe you've been through all of this and you're still so young." I swung my legs over the bed and shakily stood, brushing off my mother's protests, and made my way toward her to grab her shoulder. "It will get better though because now you have mom and me here to help you." I smiled and squeezed her shoulder. She beamed up at me. After only knowing her for several minutes, I already felt a connection between us.

"Thank you..." Her tears had stopped and she genuinely looked happy which filled me with warmth. Wait, that's—

Thump, thump. "May I come in?" Madara's deep voice sounded from the other side of the door.
