And it really was a boring week without Madara. There was no one to make fun of or joke around with so I busied myself with books and work. A day before the week was over, Madara sent a messenger hawk telling me he would be coming home the next day.
So, a day later, I stood in the kitchen cooking his favorite dish, inarizushi, a special type of sushi. I set the table and filled our plates with sushi and some rice. As if the food summoned him, the front door slid open to reveal Madara's tired face.
"There's my favorite man!" I proclaimed happily as he came to stand in front of me and scoop me into a hug.
"Oh, Lea, it's so nice to be home," He sighed in relief. "Tobirama was so annoying," He pouted and I pulled away to kiss him.
"Well, now that you're home, let's eat and you can tell me all about it," I said as we moved to the table.
Madara's face lit up when he saw the dish. "You made my favorite!" He exclaimed, then proceeded to greedily eat.
"Did they even feed you there?" I jokingly questioned him, taking slow bites from my own plate.
He shook his head, "They did but no one's cooking is like yours, Lea."
"Thanks," I muttered, my cheeks dusting pink in delight.
He talked about his time in the village and how far the building process had come. "There's enough houses to start sending some Uchiha over to live there. In a month, at the end of June, we'll move everyone there," He said.
Wow, they had gotten a lot done in a few weeks, but I guess that's expected since they have a wood-style user and we had sent some Uchiha to add to their workforce.
"That sounds wonderful!" I exclaimed while gathering our dishes to clean.
"It is," He sat back and crossed his arms. A calm silence descended upon us as I washed the dishes and he drank the rest of his tea. I debated telling him about our babies but before I could, he rose from his seat and set the empty cup beside the sink. "I'm going to bed, Lea. Thank you for dinner, it was delicious." He placed a kiss on my temple then left the room.
Well, I guess that answered my question then... Poor Madara. He's probably exhausted from dealing with Hashirama and Tobirama.
I giggled thinking about how different their personalities were and finished drying the now clean dishes. Putting them back where they belonged, I freshened up in the bathroom then joined Madara under the covers.
I faced away from him and curled up but he rolled over and reached out, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me close to his chest. He heaved a long sigh, the heat tickling my neck. Oh, how I had missed this.

June came and went in a blur during which, Madara had sent half of the clan to our new village so we wouldn't be moving all at once. There was quite a commotion; some people weren't ready to move yet, which was very understandable and Madara was forced to calmly persuade them.
Toward the middle of July, everyone was moved to the new village. Now, I stood with Madara in our courtyard as he gazed at the koi pond, devoid of fish, one last time, deep in thought. "What are you thinking?" I questioned while rubbing his back.
"I have so many memories here. My mother, father, and my brothers, too." I sidled close to his side and he wrapped an arm around my shoulders. "We've lost two of our most precious people in this house," He whispered, referring to Yumi and Izuna.
