Today was the big practice round against Fukurodani. It's not like they haven't played Fukurodani before, however this time they didn't have their star libero to make their miracle receives.
Coach Ukai: "Alright guys gather around"
The team formed a huddle, Nishinoya stood in the middle.
Coach Ukai: "Today's practice match is going to push every single of your limits as a volleyball player. I know Nishinoya isn't here , but remember that's why we continue to play. It is through us that Nishinoya's memory lives on never forget that..."
"For Nishinoya" Daichi said with tears forming in his eyes. "FOR NISHINOYA" the team repeated. As they were going to part ways and start practicing again a loud voice came from across the gym as the door swung open. "HEY HEY HEY WHO'S READY TO PLAY SOME VOLLEYBALL!" This was it..the practice match was finally about to begin. Crows Vs Owls..
Nishinoya sat on the bench and looked at his former teammates. "I wish they could see me.." he thought to himself. He knew today was going to be Karasuno's biggest struggle especially since he wasn't there.(Timeskip) An hour passed by and both teams had a one set.
"Cmon guys" he mumbled to himself. The current score was 20-19.
Coach Ukai: "Okay guys we're close if we tie and change the momentum we can w-
He was suddenly cut off
"We're gonna lose" Tsukishima said crossing his arms. "TSUKISHIMA!" Daichi glared at him.
Suga: "Let him speak"
"Based on the way things are right now, we dont have Nishinoya and Fukurodani is ahead. We might as well give up."
The whole team fell silent. Nishinoya looked at Tsukishima angrily, took his hand and went to smack him.
Tsukishima: "WHAT THE HELL....SOMEONE JUST...SMACKED ME"
Nishinoya looked at his hands shocked..."I actually touched him~... " he smiled and stood in the middle of the trying his hardest to make himself visible. "PLEASE WORK..." The team suddenly gasped looking at him.
Hinata: "What the actual fuck"
Daichi: "How the hell..."
Suga: "DAICHI LANGUAGE"
Tsukishima: "That's favoritism for you..."
Nishinoya: "Im sorry for leaving you all, I wish I could take it back...but I can't. Asahi remember what we talked about. I told you I'd love you even after death and I still do. As for the rest of you just because Fukurodani has a one point lead doesn't mean we can't beat them. Tsukishima you have the brains and Daichi you are great at receiving. Hinata and Kageyama you both have your quick attack. Use the resources you have. Dont give up. I have to go now...apparently my amends have been made...but remember we're the crows and we've been through far much worse than we have now.." With that he disappeared.
The team looked at the floor with huge smiles.
"Are you guys ready" Daichi said. The team nodded and played their very best. At the end of the day they did lose just like Tsukishima had said but they weren't sad this time. They knew they did their best, they played an honorable practice match, they just had to work harder. The day ended and everyone went home together. "See you guys" the team shouted as they parted their ways.
(Timeskip 2 months)
It had been 2 months since Nishinoya's death and it was also. The team decided that day to go see the floating lights, Tanaka insitied Daichi and Sugawara to stay home and spend time together but they refused, they wanted to pay respects for their former teammate. "Let's go babe" Daichi said grabbing Sugawara's hand. He was eager to get to the park, not only was it their anniversary but he was going to ask him to marry him.
They pulled up to the park as the clock read "9:59PM" , everyone started counting down. "10.......9......8.....7....6....5...4...3...2...1..." As they got to the last number 3 gunshots rang "POW POW POW." There was yelling and screaming, Daichi began looking around for his Sugawara. When he looked over there he lay on the floor bleeding, barely breathing. This was his worst nightmare, he got onto the floor and began putting pressure onto the wound. "Cmon hunny stay with me" he said as he held back his tears calling 911. Suddenly, the fireworks started and all he could do was cry. Why him and why now?
