Gang Tae is drunk. Moon Young is drunk. As he predicted, it is bad.
In a very good way.
"I feel like there's a lot about the real Moon Gang Tae that I still don't know."
"You know more about me than anyone else."
"I want more. I want to know all the everyday, little things."
"True. The same goes for me about you. Ask me something, then."
"Alright. What's your favourite colour?"
"Umm... I guess it would be blue."
"Ah, of course – you're always wearing blue. And plaid. You have a button-down shirt in every shade of blue, don't you?"
"As if. My wardrobe is about one per cent the size of yours. What's your favourite colour?"
"That's a difficult question – I love too many colours, they are all so pretty. But I have a special affinity for black and blood red."
"Is that why you're wearing a black dress tonight?"
"No, I picked this dress because it's sexy and I wanted to make sure you couldn't take your eyes off of me."
"Can you please not say things like that in a public place?!"
"But ruffling your feathers is so much fun."
"Speaking of feathers, what's your favourite bird?"
"Wow – very subtle change of subject, Mr. Moon Gang Tae. But I'll play nice... My favourite bird would have to be an eagle. They're powerful, extremely intelligent and have amazing eyesight and sharp beaks and talons."
"You remind me of an eagle. 'Eagle eyes', as they say. Your eyes can always see right through me. You're so observant, it's probably why you're such a good writer."
"Eagles also mate for life."
"Do they? Are you trying to tell me you want to spend the rest of your life with me, Moon Young?"
"...."
"Yah, Go Moon Young, are you blushing again?"
"NO!!"
They stayed at the restaurant for hours, talking and drinking, oblivious to the thinning crowd as the clock ticked by and people finished up and left. They were the last people in the restaurant when the terrified waitress finally mustered the courage to ask them to leave, addressing mostly Gang Tae and still not looking Moon Young in the eye.
They paid and hobbled out of the restaurant, calling a taxi as they were both too drunk to drive. Fortunately, they weren't too far from home. The elderly taxi driver who picked them up was not impressed. Once in the taxi, the taxi driver opened the windows to let fresh air in, muttering something about alcoholic youngsters. They leaned back on the headrests, closing their eyes.
"Fuck, this car is making me so dizzy," Moon Young whined. Gang Tae reached over to hold her hand, but even that didn't help.
Moon Young opened her eyes when she felt the car come to a stop, relieved to finally be home. But the taxi driver had stopped at the base of the hill which led up to the mansion, refusing to go up much further because, as he said, "this place brings bad luck".
"Come on, mister, there's a woman with me, can't you please go all the way up?" Gang Tae chided. But before he could convince the taxi driver, Moon Young opened the car door and stepped out, inhaling in the cool night air. She needed to get out of that car right this moment – the dizziness would make her throw up and completely ruin this great buzz she had going. Walking the rest of the way actually sounded like a much better idea.
