"Would you be wearing the blue gown or red today madam?" Eun Mi held out the gowns and laid them on the bed.
"What do you think Leia? Red or Blue?"
Kiara turned to her younger sister as Eun Mi fastened a diamond collar around her bare neck.
"Red is lucky" Leia shrugged and applied another coat of lipstick in boredom
"Luck?" Kiara smirked at her reflection in the mirror, "I dont need that" she beamed as she slipped rings onto her fingers and placed her locket inside a box.
"I choose blue then, Eun Mi" she announced and Eun Mi slipped the smooth velvet over her shoulder and dabbed glitter on her eyes.
"That's my overconfident sister everyone"
Leia rolled her eyes as Eun Mi chuckled and spun Kiara's hair into an elegant bun. Suddenly her face turned serious and Kiara saw the sparkle in her eyes dull.
"What is it?"
"Nothing, i was just concerned that your dress is going to look prettier than mine" Leia replied.
"Nonsense, who are you trying to fool, I know you couldnt care less about clothes, seriously, tell me the truth" Kiara walked over to her sister and wrapped her into a hug.
"Its Vanessa" she blurted out, " I'm afraid she wont come along, let alone be a good host" Leia sighed, and as if on cue the doors flew open to the sound of stilettos marching towards them. Kiara stood up and smoothened her dress to face her older sister.
"I just came to let you know I'm leaving"
Vanessa's voice remained as cold as her icy glare.
" LEAVING? Care to explain where? You NEED to be here, representing our family at the dinner meeting Vanessa, I told you bef-" Kiara's protests were cut off by Vanessa.
"And i told you before - I am not coming. Especially for a dinner you called. I have a date and i wont be back until morning"
"Vanessa, dont speak to her like that" Leia tried holding her hand but Vanessa pushed her away. Leia stumbled until Kiara gripped hold of her hand and held her steady.
"As for you Leia, I'll talk to you once you stop being her puppet. She's taking away everything that is ours"
Vanessa gripped onto her shoulders and dug her nails in as Leia shrieked.
"Let go of her" Kiara whispered, her voice as sharp as a blade, " Nobody is going anywhere, Eun Mi, please close the doors "
"Eun Mi, I forbid you to" Vanessa ordered to the maiden who was sweating by now, trapped in a war between her friend, and the girl everyone feared, Choi Vanessa.
"Vanessa, please" Kiara's voice was pleading now, "Please stay, this dinner could mean everything, maybe i could finally close the deal on the Choi Hills project, it took me so long to arrange a meeting with the Moon Group. This was Father's dream project, you know much it meant to him, we three have to be there to welcome them, you need to be there. Please, Vanessa, for Father at least" Kiara's smile was steady but her hand shook as she reached for her sister.
"Oh please, he is not even your real father" Vanessa smiled
" Vanessa!" Leia was pushing herself between the other two now.
" You are no one but a stranger to my family, you stole everything mine. I'll never forgive Father for passing down our company to you before he died. Dont think you have got me wrapped around your finger, CEO. Everything is mine. The truth is always the reality Kiara. " Vanessa leaned in towards a frozen Kiara, transfixed onto the spot, her chip up high.
"Or should i say..... Min Yu-Ri" Vanessa laughed softly and tucked a strand of hair between Kiara's ears.
"Say that again" Kiara's every word echoed danger and her eyes glittered furiously. Her arms remained curled into fists by her sides
"You are a stranger, Min Yu-Ri" Vanessa cackled again as Kiara leaped towards her.
Leia pushed Vanessa aside and begged her to leave as Eun Mi held back a fuming Kiara, glaring at the shadow of Vanessa that disappeared down the stairs.
Nobody spoke another word until the roar of the car faded away into the distance. A tear dropped down Leia's cheeks as Kiara hugged her close.
"It's nothing new" Kiara comforted her sister as Leia nodded sadly. Kiara's heart ached to see her sister cry. Everyone said she hated love but Kiara knew she loved her sister with all her heart and was going to protect her no matter what.
"You look sooo ugly crying" she teased her as Leia laughed. The limo lights blinked outside and they made their way down the spiral suitcase into the table set for twelve. Chandeliers glistened above and they bathed in the golden light.
"I wish you were here" she whispered softly.
"Kie? Who are you talking about?"
" I said something? Never mind, let's go" she squeezed her hand and sighed.
I wish you were here she thought again. I never feel like I belong.
