Betrayals

"Shoto?"

The rage in his eyes was like before Izuku, but more intense. I knew what was happening. All the rage towards his father that he had repressed was not only brought to the surface, but amplified.

He took her hand, and I watched a wave of black smoke wash over him. Did she intensify her quirk on him?

"Yeah, so, I promised these other guys I'd help them destroy hero society, and this guy seems to want in on it!" Dahlia explained. Other guys who want to destroy hero society...the League?

"I'm going to make him pay," Shoto said with gritted teeth.

"Todoroki, what are you doing?!" Izuku cried out.

"I'm ending this. This is the only way for me to quell my rage. I have to destroy him."

Shoto always repressed all of his emotions. And now only the negative ones were brought to the surface. Any positivity left in him was buried.

"Let's just blow both of them to hell and back!" Kat shouted from behind me.

"No! Target her; once her quirk isn't being used he can start to recover and go back to normal!"

"Fine! Then he'd better not get in the way!" Kat propelled himself towards Dahlia with an explosion, bracing to aim the next one at her face.

The moment of impact, I heard a loud explosion and saw only smoke. Normal, grey smoke, thank goodness.

When the smoke cleared, I saw a wall of ice and Dahlia. Shoto was gone. Dahlia pointed the gun at Kat.

"Get behind me!" I shouted, using my fear to form a shield. I pulled Kat behind the shield with me, shielding him from any possible attacks.

Bullets ricocheted. If I hadn't been as scared as I was, Dahlia probably would have been able to shatter my shield.

My classmates were still too unstable to fight; I'd have to think of a strategy with only Kat and I.

I calmed myself to strategize. If I could use my shield to get Kat close, he could use explosions to corner her.

"Rainbow, the hell are you doing? Get scared!" Kat yelled. Shit. My shield was gone. I'd inadvertently switched to my logical side, deactivating the fear-fueled ability.

A bullet passed through my shoulder, and I watched one land in Kat's stomach.

She aimed at Kat's head and pulled the trigger.

The chamber was empty.

"Oh well. Guess I'll just have to go back to my quirk." I watched the black smoke fill the room again, but then it disappeared.

"Did you shoot my students?" Aizawa asked from the doorway. His binding scarf quickly tied her up, and Aizawa called the police.

My classmates were still on the ground, mostly in tears. Kat had joined them on the ground now, blood pouring out of his stomach.

"Aizawa, he needs help! Now!"

Iida stood, still looking solemn. "I brought a first aid kit. Will it suffice until help arrives?"

"Yes! Thanks!" I wrapped a bandage tightly around Kat's stomach, hoping to stop the bleeding. I didn't even want to consider that she'd hit an important organ.

"Nomura, your arm." Aizawa wrapped my wound as the police arrived and took Dahlia into custody.

"This isn't over! I'll see you again soon, sis!" she declared as she was forced into the back of a police car with quirk-canceling handcuffs.
