ADIRA'S POV
"Luke, if you'll ju-" Luke cot me off. "No, I'm telli-" I cut him off. "Shut up, and listen-" he cut me off again. "Did you just tell me to shut up?" He asked. I raised a brow at him. "And if I did?" I crossed my arms over my chest. "You know what? I'm s-" Reggie and Alex stepped in between us. "Ok! Let's all go chill out!" Alex shouted over us. Reggie separating us.
"Why are you guys arguing?" Reggie asked. "I'm not arguing. I'm just trying to simply suggested for him to rearrange the lyrics. But he won't listen" I pointed at Luke. "But, she is being stubborn a-" I cut him off. "I'm being stubborn?" I exclaimed. "Yes, you're stubborn" he said in a duh tone. "See what I'm working with? You know how hard it's been?" I said annoyed. Luke just doesn't want to compromise, and it's getting frustrating.
"Well, why don't we walk it off? Take some time to ourselves. How does that sound?" Alex asked calmly. "Whatever. Be back here when Julie gets off of school" I said in a firm tone. I gave a wink to Alex before snapping my fingers and poofing out.
3rd PERSON POV
"Did she just wink at you?" Luke asked. "Yes she did" Alex and Reggie said in unison. Alex and Luke turned to Reggie. "She didn't wink at you" they said in unison. A small hurt look took over Reggie's face. "Yes she did. You guys just don't wanna admit it" Reggie mumbled. Luke smiled before scoffing, he didn't understand how Reggie thought sometimes, but, he really wants to know.
ADIRA'S POV
I was walking the streets of Hollywood, just seeing how things changed. To be honest, there's only a few things that have changed. I was rounding the corner when I bumped into something hard and fell. "Damn, can you watch it?" I said with a groan. "Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to" I looked up to see a guy holding out his hand. I took it and dusted off my pants.
Then I realized something. "You can see me?" I asked. The guy was around Luke's height, deep brown eyes, wavy hair that was covered a little by a black beanie. He had a flannel, a plain white shirt, and some jeans. Wow, do I have a type, or what?
He laughed a little and nodded. "Of course I can see you. You're a ghost" I looked at him skeptically, how would he know? "What, can other ghosts know if the other person is a ghost?" I crossed my arms over my chest. He looked surprised by the sound of my tone.
"Um, no. I just thought you were a lifer and then, when you fell, I knew. I'm Miliano. But you? You can call me whatever you'd like" He offered me his hand again. Is this boy trying to flirt. You know what? It's been a minute, I'll play. "Adira. But, you can call me Midnight" I put on my best flirty smile as I shook his hand.
"Midnight? Is that like a nickname?" I don't know how, but we started walking. "Yea, also my middle name. My friends started calling me that because I would always be up in the middle of the night. It's weird, I know" I intertwined my hands nervously. I don't know why I'm nervous.
"Well, I think it's cool. Very like, 90's. You know?" I chuckled, boy, don't I know it. "Yea, I died in the 90's" he looked over at me with a raised brow, I couldn't help but find that attractive. "Oh, really? How?" Miliano asked curiously. "Somebody hit me with their car. What about you?" I asked. He smiled at me and looked around.
"Um, how about I tell you another time?" He offered. His brown eyes staring deep into mine. "Why?" I asked. His smile fell into a smirk. "So that there's something to talk about next time" I mirrored his smirk. "Oh, you think there's gonna be a next time? Very brave of you to assume" I backed up a little, knowing that I was getting ready to leave.
"I'll see you soon, pretty lady" I smiled and snapped my fingers, poofing back into the garage.
3rd PERSON POV
When Adira poofed back in, she flopped on the couch. She couldn't help but let her mind wonder back to Miliano. He was the definition of a flirt, but she sure thought he was good at it. If they stayed talking for a while, she's positive that the conversation could've lasted for hours.
"What's got you all smiley?" Luke asked once he seen her. "Me? Nothing. I'm just thinking" Luke smiled at her, it was nice to see her with a smile instead of a frown or scowl. "What're you thinking about?" He asked. "Somebody. Don't worry about it" Luke's smile slightly fell but placed it back on, he didn't know what was up with him lately. Ever since he and Adira had been on good terms, he'd smiled a lot more, has been trying to be there for Adira a lot of the time. Luke obviously thought it was weird, that was his best friend, and he never felt like that until now.
Even if Luke did start to catch feelings for the girl, he definitely wouldn't be able to figure it out on his own. He was blind when it came to anything else other than music. But that wasn't his fault, he only ever had music and his friends. Those were the only two consistent things in his life. Luke didn't want those to slip away.
Julie was talking to Adira and the boys. "We're playing a school dance? Sweet!" Reggie showed Adira and Luke the flyer. " It's not exactly the strip" Luke said a little disappointed.
"Really? Be happy we've got a band and a gig. Suck it up" Adira said to Luke. They were working on being best friends again, but she forgot how much a pain in the ass he was.
Julie looked between the two. She thought that they had made a breakthrough. Now it's like they're being cold to each other all over again. "This is gonna be harder than I thought" Julie mumbled.
" And you're not exactly alive, so maybe you should be happy we have our first gig" Reggie agreed with Adira . " I wasn't in love with the idea at first either, but it could be a great way for us to build a following, right?" Julie said cheerfully as she watered her pants.
" Yes, we need to play whenever we can, wherever we can" Adira agreed. " No, you guys are right. Let's rock these kids' faces off and then play the clubs" Luke looked over at Adira, smiling at the idea, which made him smile.
" And then record a single that gets a billion streams?" Julie started planning for the future. " We don't know what that is, but hopefully it gets us a manager and a tour" Luke followed the idea.
" Then release a bunch of hit albums" Adira said as she realized the end goal of this plan. "Put out a country album that does surprisingly well" Adira sighed, she thought 25 years would be enough for him to get over this country faze. " I shred on the banjo, so..." Reggie explained a little more.
" Then I'll learn how to fiddle" Julie agreed. "And before you know it, we're being inducted to the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame" Luke cheered.
" But one of us isn't there. Because we had a blowout in 2032. My money's on Alex. He's just so sensitive" Reggie said but Adira disagreed. " Alex wouldn't quit the band. He doesn't handle change well" she defended. If anything, she thought that she of all people would be the one to leave the band.
" What are we waiting for? Let's get rehearsing!" Luke said excitedly. " Uh... Where is Alex?" Julie and Adira realized one of them was missing. " Forget him. He's probably freaking out somewhere right now" Luke tried to get practice going without him. "Stop being an ass, Luke" Adira shoved him playfully. "Oh, Adira, don't be like that. You know I'm just playing" he came up to her and threw and arm over her shoulder. "Shut up, grab you're guitar" she smiled at him and pushed off his arm.
