Lisa POV

Her?

What?

When Jennie realized what she said, she immediately got off of my lap and sat in her own chair.

"Jennie, what is going on?" I ask as I sat up straight in my chair. Jennie stayed silent and stared down at her feet like a punished kid. I sighed and asked, "Who is 'her' and why are you drunk? Are you okay?"

This therapy session didn't feel like it was meant for me, it felt like it was meant for Jennie.

"No." Jennie whispered while still staring at the floor.

"I'm not.." she started to sniffle it sounded like she was starting to cry.

"I'm really not." She broke down and her shoulders were going up and down as she cried, trying her best to catch her breath.

I didn't know what to do at this moment so I just scooted my chair closer to her and rested my hand on her shoulder, gently rubbing it. Suddenly as I watched the weeping girl, I had the strong desire to hug and comfort her. So that's what I did. I stood up and walked to her side of the desk and gently lifted her arm and then her body. Once she stood up, she looked up at me and its like her eyes were speaking to me.

And for some reason when we stared at each other, I could intensely feel and relate to the pain she is experiencing right now.

I guess I was staring at her for too long because she weakly whispered, "Please just hold me." I nodded and gently placed her arms on my shoulders and then she gently wrapped them around my neck causing her to tippy toe. I softly smiled at her action and wrapped my arms around her small waist.

I rubbed my hand up and down her back as softly as I could and I told her, "You'll be okay... I promise."

"I can't... He's g-gone." Jennie sobbed into my neck as she held onto me tighter.

"Who?"

"My dad.."

Instantly, I remembered the day I lost my own father. That pain still lingers in me. I held Jennie a little tighter and whispered, "I know it hurts, but you'll wake up feeling a little less sad everyday. It just takes time trust me; I know."

"You make it sound so easy." She weakly chuckled and rested her head on my chest.

"It's really not." I laughed and placed my chin on the top of her head and gave her a tight playful squeeze, using my arms. She grunted and playfully pushed me off of her.

"Okay, that's enough emotions for the day." Jennie chuckled as she wiped her tears off with her hand and warmly smiled at me.

It was the first smile from her that felt genuine.

And I couldn't help but to smile back at her.

"You know- wait nevermind." Jennie shook her head and grabbed a file. I got filled with curiosity when she didn't finish her sentence.

"What were you going to say?" I questioned and sat down in my seat.

"I- I don't know." She answered with a nervous look on her face.
