wings of fire - shifting sands

chapter 1 - hatching

the shiny white egg twitched slightly making her mother look over in shock, her mother moved closer to the egg, enough that she could feel her warm scales by the shell of her egg. "honey look...its hatching.."  she heard her mother say in her soft and caring voice, she had always felt like her mother was the most kindest and caring sand wing, although she had problems standing up for herself. she heard her father hiss, and heard him getting up with a groan. "ugh, do i have to watch?" he snapped at her mother making her wince softly under her breath, the egg twitched more and a slight crack started forming.

she heard her mother gasp in awe as the crack kept getting bigger until it finally cracked in half, she sat their staring up at her parents, her scales coated in a shiny liquid, she had bright shiny golden scales with a sandy beach under belly, and a light brown sale, she studied her parents for a moment, her father having an pissed off look followed with a hiss that never faded, it was like a sneak hissing in anger like it didn't catch his prey, then she looked at her mother who had a welcoming and kind look followed by her bright a cheerful smile.

"shes- shes gorgeous..." she heard her mother say quietly under her breath making her father bark a laugh.

"guess she doesn't take after you!" her father said with a snarky chuckle followed with a smirk as he walked away, her mother winced again.

trying to cheer her mother up she stumbled over to her trying to get used to walking, she fell into her mothers warm arms, her tail swaying side to side as she placed a soft kiss on the top of her head. "ill name you Gila.." her mother said smiling as she wrapped her warm wings around her. she felt safe and relaxed in her mothers arms, she soaked up her mothers warm scales and smiled up at her.  

auguring then raised as two unknown sand wings barged into the doorway and into the living room where her, her mother and father were, they two sand wings then stopped shouting as both of their gazes landed on her, before her mother could speak her father let out a deep growl smacking one of the dragonets, the dragonet yelped dipping their head not making eye contact with her father.

"what did i tell you about coming in the door shouting like your tail just caught fire!" her father shouted at them in anger.

"i-im s-s-sorry- father-...." the dragonet said with a whimper while shaking in fear.

her father them walked to the other dragonet, towering over her because of his height, he was much bigger then a normal sand wing and was some what buff, sure he was an intimidating sand wing, but she didn't fear him, although the two dragonets basically cowered over him.

 her father growled and smacked the other dragonet as well, making her let out a painful yelp as she quickly placed her talon over her cheek from the pain.

she sat their watching, a low growl raised from her chest as she watched her father smack the two other dragonets.

she stood up getting out of her mothers arms without her noticing, she mad her way behind her father who was still shouting at the top of his lungs, 'what is it with him and yelling' she thought. she was now standing by his tail, she slowly lifted his tail up, him still not noticing her, she stabbed her teeth into his tail, drawing blood to the surface of the bite mark.

her father let out a yelp painful yelp whipping around to see her, her father swiped his talon across her snout, clawing it deep enough to make it a scar when it healed, her screamed falling backwards and holding her snout in pain. she could feel tears roll down her cheeks slowly as her father chuckled "don't try to fight back little one.." her father whispered coldly in her ear, making more tears roll down her cheeks.

her father then left the room chuckling to himself, the two dragonets rushed over to her, their claws tapping on the floor as they walked, her mother got up and slowly picked her up gently in her arms. "rattle, sneak-bite, this is your new little sister, Gila" her mother said making her look up at her siblings, sneak-bites eyes were filled with sorrow, while rattle on the other talon had a look of pure hatred.

'does she hate me? what did i do?!' she thought to herself  while wrinkling her snout giving the same look back to rattle.

'oh this is gonna be fun..' her thought sarcastically in her head.
