Chapter four

“If we really have do this, sure I have no one else to be buddies with” she said crossing her arms, see the thing with me and Alice was that we had completely different styles of fashion, but we liked the same music, liked the same brands, the same celebrities and the same shows. Alice has this really girly outfit style, like her favorite color is pink, and mine is well black
as you know. Today she wore a floral white crop top, a purple pleated skirt, white flats, a flower necklace, and two bracelets, one on each wrist. People had trouble believing we were best friends, but when you look at pictures of us, it’s always me and her, we were never away from each other for more than a day. We lived (and still do) next to each other. Our mom’s are really close, and we both have no fathers in our lives, Alice’s father left when Alice was twelve and now he has a whole other family in California. He never even sends her a birthday card, not a phone call nothing. It’s like
he forgot he had another kid. When Alice’s father left, my dad was there for her and was like a father figure until a year later when he died. It was a rainy night and he was not watching the road because he was texting my mom about stuff, and he swerved onto the wrong side of the road and got hit head on with a truck. Alice was devastated, it was like she lost two fathers. After my father died, she stayed over with me and we told each
other jokes and laughed until we fell asleep.
“Yeah because you are my best friend and no one can replace me and you know it” I said
“You bet” she said looking at me, her lips sparkled in the orange light that came from the outside hallway. Those green eyes seemed to stare right into my soul and I could not look away. Her curly blonde hair seemed to
bounce as she laughed
“Alice” I said
“Yes?” she asked turning to me, I wanted to tell her what I have always wanted to tell her. What I have known since the day I was born, what my mom has not known, what my mom will probably be surprised about. I put my hand on her cheek and smiled
“Eliza what are you doing?” she asked, but just by her voice I knew she wanted this, I knew she had been wanting this since forever. “I think you know what I am doing” I said
“Then do it, before the lights go back on”
“Fine” I said leaning in, closing my eyes and kissing her. We released and stared into each other’s eyes for a minute before going back in for another one. After we released the second time, the lights came back on
and all the students began exiting the gym.
“It’s first period” I said, and just as I was about to get up, Alice gripped my hand and I turned to her and she was shaking her head.
“Don’t go yet” she said grabbing her bag, which was a basic pink Nike backpack.
“Let’s go” we had first period together, which was Bio. We walked down the hallway with our fingers intertwined and smiles on our faces.
“If only my cousin could see me now, if only my dad could see me now” I said, my cousin before she was taken away and thankfully before she tired to commit suicide, she told me that she was more into girls than boys. I told her I was the same way, and we hugged, she was upset and nervous because she did not think people would accept her. But since she saw her cousin was the same way there was no way I would not accept her. My dad
was always really accepting of the whole LGBT community, and he always said he would be so happy if I was part of it. Sadly he died before I could tell him.
“So this is a thing now?” Alice asked me
“If you want it to be” I said
“I am so down for this” she smiled as we got closer to class
“Well then, we must do this the proper way,” I said , letting go of her hand, snd leading her to the wall.
“Alice Martha Morgan would you do me the honor of being my girlfriend” I said
“Eliza Betty Stiles I would be honored” she said blushing
“Good it’s official then” I said grabbing her hand again. We made it to our class and sat down next to each other, and as the
teacher got everything ready, me and Alice decided to plan our first date
“Afterschool, at the cafe” she said
“The Maple cafe you mean?”
“Yeah” she nodded
“So 3:30 then?” I asked
“I guess it’s a date then” we smiled at each other and faced the teacher, who told us what the plans were for that day
“We are taking notes for our next chapter, but instead of me projecting the notes on the smart board, you can grab a chromebook and get the notes
from online” said the teacher, I grabbed two chromebooks for me and Alice and sat back down.
“Thanks” Alice smiled
“Aww you have a girlfriend now.” Jack said
“Are you mocking me?” I asked facing my bag, so to everyone it looked like I was just getting something from my bag.
“No I am really happy for you, but you know you better not let her get in the way of us” he said
“Us?” I asked
“I am you, and you can’t run away from your own darkness, and has much as you want to it will not happen. And as long as I am around you are not dying anytime soon even if you did which is now impossible I will
haunt you in hell as well” he said
