Best Friends (Prequel)

Christmas Party

(A few weeks later)

"So are you finally gonna do it?" Evie asked Mal as they walked through the hall.

"Do what?" Mal wondered.

"Tell Ben how you really feel." Evie reminded her.

"Oh. Actually I was thinking that I won't." Mal responded.

"What? Why not? It's the perfect time to." Evie was saying.

"I know, but maybe it's just better if we just stay friends." Mal told Evie.

"No." Evie shook her head not buying it. "I have a plan to help." 

"Help with what? I don't need help with anything." Mal told her.

"Well my parents are having a Christmas party tonight and I'm inviting all my friends including Ben. There will mistletoe and I'll make sure you two are both under it." Evie explained.

"I don't know Evie..." Mal was saying.

"Come on just trust me on this." Evie said.

"Fine." Mal gave in and agreed.

"Good!" Evie smiled big. "It's gonna be the best night of your life."

(After school)

"So you going to Evie's party tonight?" Ben asked.

"Yeah. You?" Mal replied.

"Yeah. We can go together." Ben suggested.

"Yeah." Mal nodded. 

(A couple hours later)

 Mal was looking at her dress in the mirror, then the doorbell rang.

"Mal! Ben is here!" Mal's mom yelled up to her.

"Coming!" Mal yelled back. She looked back at the mirror. "You got this."

"Hey. You ready to go?" Ben checked.

"Yeah." Mal nodded. "See you, Mom."

"Bye guys have fun." Her mom said before shutting the door behind Mal.

Ben and Mal got into Ben's mom's car and pulled out. 

(At Evie's house)

"Okay text me when you're ready to leave." Ben's mom told them before they got out.

"Okay bye Mom." Ben replied, then got out.

They walked up to Evie's front door and rang the doorbell. A couple minutes later the Evie opened the door.

"Hey guys. It's about time you guys got here." Evie joked. 

(A couple hours later)

"Hey Carlos can I get your help with something?" Evie asked.

"Sure. With what?" Carlos answered.

"I'm trying to get Ben and Mal under the mistletoe." Evie started.

"Why don't you get your boyfriend to help?" Carlos questioned.

"Well he's not here. And we haven't really been talking since I told him I loved him." Evie explained.

"Oh I'm... I'm sorry. I didn't mean for that to sound rude." Carlos was trying to apologize.

"It's okay." Evie assured him. "Just will you help me?" 

"Of course." Carlos agreed.

 Carlos was running around looking for Ben. When he spotted him he quickly ran over to him.
