The Return of President Snow

Chapter 4

     I wake up and see Peeta is not with me. I hear him on the phone with someone. I sneak downstairs. He says something about someone needing to take the kids to District 2. Gale. A person I could never entrust my childrens' lives with.

     "You should stay in the underground shelter that me and Katniss built under her old house," says Peeta.

     "Why couldn't he take them to 13? Snow would probably look there before anywhere else," I say, my voice startling Peeta. He nods and goes back to his conversation. He hangs up.

     "I didn't know you woke up," he says.

     "You weren't next to me. I thought something had happened to you until I heard your voice," I say with a dry voice.

     "Gale is coming to take the kids to 13. You wanna explain whats going on or should I?" Peeta says.

    "Kids come down here, please," I say without taking my eyes off Peeta.

    "Yeah, Mommy?" asks Rosemary, walking down the stairs.

    "Our friend, Gale, is coming to take you to District 13. Me and Daddy are in a complicated situation that returned from the past. We want you guys to be safe," I say. I hear a car honk its horn. I look out the window and see Gale. He smiles at me and Peeta and we smile back. We run outside and drown him in hugs. Rosemary and Darius stand in the doorway with shy looks on their faces.

      "Is this Rosemary and Darius?" Gale says setting both me and Peeta down.

      "Yes," I say.

      "Hi guys," Gale says. Then he turns back to Peeta and asks if we want Delly to go with them.

      "Thats probably the best idea," I tell Peeta.

      "Yeah. I'll go call her," says Peeta. He walks into the house.

      "So, Katniss. It's been a while," says Gale akwardly.

      "Yeah," I say with a grim voice.

      "Coin didn't tell me that those bombs would be dropped when Prim was there," he says sinceraly.

      "Can we please not talk about Prim?" I say.

      "Fine," he says.

      "Delly says that you can pick her up on the way," says Peeta," she built herself a little cottage halfway between 12 and 13."

     "Okay. I promise I'll take good care of them," says Gale. I hug him, Rosemary, and Darius as they get in the car. I go inside to shower.

          -----------PEETA'S POV-------------

      I grab Gale by the wrist.

      "Please don't let them get hurt," I say looking into his eyes.

      "I will. Don't worry," he says, sounding a little distracted.

      "Are you ok?" I ask.

      "I'm just amazed at how fast they put this place back together.." he says. I help put the kids bags in. I wave as he drives away.

     "I always wondered why everybody eventually started to like you," says Katniss. She has a pretty sundress and has her famous sidebraid. I walk up to her and put my arms around her waist.

     "Well its not because I'm nice or anything," I say. I kiss her on the cheek as she laughs at my joke and walk to the kitchen to prepare lunch.

                --------KATNISS'S POV-------

I walk in and watch the news. I see Snow on the news and start having flashbacks and start crashing into vases. I pass out.
