The next two days felt slow and foggy. The only times I got out of bed were to go to the bathroom. Oliver brought me food every day to make sure I didn't starve, but I usually pretended to be asleep when I heard him knocking. The morning three days after my grandfather had passed, Oliver knocked on my door yet again. But this time it wasn't to bring me food.
"Amelia?" he said cautiously from the door: "Your grandmother is here."
I jumped out of bed. Oliver stepped aside, revealing a tired-looking McGonagall. I practically ran to her, wrapping my arms around her. She returned the hug and whispered: "Oh darling... Are you alright?" I nodded against her shoulder; I knew she needed me to be strong right now.
"Are you alright?" I asked her, knowing the answer. She didn't reply.
"Was he ill?" I asked her the question that had been caving my mind the past few days: "Did it hurt for him?"
Grandma shook her head and said quietly: "No. It was quite quick, to be honest." She paused for a second before adding: "Too quick." She burst into tears; I tightened the hug and tried to hold back my tears:
"It's going to be okay, grandma. He's in a better place now."
I spent the morning with her. To my distress, she had to return back to Canada in the afternoon to take care of some things regarding my grandfather. I was left alone in my bed again. I don't know when I fell asleep, but I do know that I was waken up way too early in the morning.
"Get up", Oliver barged into my room and threw a pile of clothes at me: "We're going on a run." I peeked at him from inside my blanket.
"What?"
"I said get up", he repeated: "Now."
"Oliver, I'm really not in the mood", I pleaded: "Not now."
But he didn't listen to me; instead, he pulled the blanket off my body and threw it in the corner of the room. I got off my bed and walked up to him in fury.
"Why would you do that?" I snarled. He looked amused, which made me feel even more angry.
"Can't you leave me alone?" I screamed. He shook his head with a grin. I shoved his chest with my hands. I wish he had started to shout at me; his calm reaction made my body shiver with indignation.
"Just get dressed, okay?" he said calmly before turning around and stepping towards the door. I marched to block his way. He stopped himself right in front of me and looked down at me with impish eyes. I pouted my lips, making his mouth twitch with a smile.
"Gosh, you are so... so–"
And before I knew it, my lips crashed into his. He wobbled a few steps backwards in surprise, but managed to steady himself. He grasped my neck tightly, kissing me back with such force that it made me startle. I pressed my body into his, guiding him towards my bed. He stopped and pulled away from the kiss when his feet hit the side of the bed. I was desperate for more, but he simply looked at me with a smug smile:
"Are you ready for our run now?"
I nudged him playfully in the arm and grabbed my sneakers.
