hello everyone.
i am so shocked and pleased that there are so many new readers. i wrote "dear fred" when i was 14-15 years old. i am 19 now and i am so surprised that i still get reads/feedback on a story that meant so much to me at the time.
unfortunately, i am not writing this authors note because of my excitement or joy about the recent rebirth of harry potter fans. i have had thousands of notifications since quarantine started. i have read so many comments. i truly appreciate everyone's kindness and love and enthusiasm. but there have been some questionable comments too. so many people have commented on my choice of characters i've decided to include. i've had so many rude criticisms of a plot i made up 5 years ago. i love criticism when it's constructive. i do not tolerate blatant disrespect.
i am also upset that i've been accused of stealing plots/ideas from creators i've never heard of before this month. when i wrote dear fred, i hadn't seen another story like it. i did not create the "dear ___" theme, however the plot i came up with was 100% original. im sure the other stories are great, too. the amount of other dear freds and dear dracos were not my inspiration for dear fred. if im honest, letters to juliet was.
i have edit history from 2016, though i begun this story in 2015.
i did re-edit dear fred in 2018 because i was embarrassed of a lot of grammatical errors, plus i wanted to change the baby's name. for the most part, everything else stayed the same.
accusing people of plagiarism is very serious. i want to keep "dear fred" a light memory in my life, because it was a very therapeutic experience when i wrote it. please don't tarnish my credibility and experience with negativity.
i do have other original plots that you may be interested in. my favorite story i've ever written is "lost cause" but i know "dear fred" is close to so many of your hearts so i will be revising and updating "dear calla" in the foreseeable future.thank you all again. your support has always meant the world to me. i've grown up with so many of my readers and mutuals.
all the love,
m x
