Indie Music plays in the background, as Maki packs her bags.
'Don't forget to bring your toothpaste too, Melanie..!'
Maki: Alright, Alright... Just give me a second.
Maki's head, filled with indie music, and the flowing blobs of imagination, as she sits down, the car door closing. She leans and looks at the surroundings. It was the third time they've moved out. Her parents travel with suitcases, and they bring Maki with them, as well.
After a whole day of driving from one region to another, the sun had already set, and they arrived at their new home.
Maki's Dad: Sooo... Whaddaya think, Mary? Got this jackpot, now we get to keep this baby. 17 months.
Maki's Mom: Good. Now I have to make sure that this place is habitable. If it has a badly decorated space, with unhygienic fumes, then I'm taking the hotel.
Maki's Dad: Nahh. Relax, sweetie. Pretty sure second-hand doesn't mean dirty. Besides, this one's a luxury deluxe cabin. Housekeepers also clean this monthly, so it can't be a bad one.
While her parents kept arguing about the house, Maki stepped foot into the cabin, and was amazed by how it looked. It was a modern... Cabin...? Yeah. Sounds weird, but that's one way to describe it. But after that, this cabin would forever change her life. This very city.
August 3
I woke up... And Laura wasn't there above me. Ahh, I forgot. Laura's dead. So I kept overthinking to myself if Laura actually died. Well, yeah, she did, but like. I just can't accept the fact you know...? After I finished overthinking wide awake, I stepped out of the bed, and headed to the kitchen to get some chocolate. Everyone was asleep, and it was around 4 AM in the morning. I carefully tiptoed towards Maki's room, and she was sound asleep. Ahh, everyone's asleep...! I guess I have the TV all to myself ^^!
'What the hell are you doing out here?'
AAAAAAAAA
Oh no... It was Angus. But wasn't he asleep when I left the room??
Claire: OH, I—UHH.. I was just... GETTING SOME FOOD, eheheh.. Totally wasn't trying to get my spot on the TV.
Angus: Pfft- I guess now we finally know what living with other children is like, huh?
Claire: Yeahhh... Oh, by the way, what are you doing out here...? Hmmm?
Angus: Shut up... I was just gonna check out the sky, and I don't know. Watch the stars, I guess-?
Claire: Well, you must really like the skies, huh...?
Angus: Yup... Ehehehe.. I've always taken pictures of the skies every week. Wanna see?
Claire: Yas...! Oh, and I'm just gonna put the chocolate in the couch-
Angus: Y-yeah, okay.
Angus grabbed his phone and ran towards me. I guess he's really interesting after all. Then, while I ate the chocolate, he showed me landscapes and environments. It was mesmerizing. I could feel the moment when the sky is just... You know. When the sky is all orange or like purple or something. And the whole place is all in a perfect color scheme.
After that, we watched my favorite show, and for some reason, he liked it too. I have really bad taste since any new series or movie about kids and 80's references make me want to watch it. I don't know why, but I guess I've always wanted to have a cool childhood, too. Growing up as a zoomer, I was kind of sheltered, I guess. And I never got to see an actual treehouse made by children before. But oh well, the next generation of children probably wouldn't even know what a treehouse is.
