Lies

"Jack Wolf, you're under arrest for the murder of Lurkin Boyle," an Auror announces, handcuffing Jack in the middle of the Great Hall. People whisper. I freeze. Jack looks at me furiously. I sigh and run to them. "Wait! It wasn't him!" They look at me suspiciously.

"How exactly would you know that?" The older one asks. I think of a lie. Quick!

"Because I was with him at that time..."

"An accomplice?" They look at each other and consider the possibility.

"What? No..."

"Then what exactly were you doing?" The younger one demand. I take a deep breath.

"If you must know, fucking. We were screwing each other at that time. If I was involved in a murder, why would I be giving myself up to you like this? Plus, you can ask Professor Lupin. I wasn't in class then. I skipped." They look at each other and sigh. They release Jack. I sigh in relief. Jack doesn't look at me. Instead, he goes back to his seat. Great, now the entire school thinks that I screwed him. Awesome. I skip the rest of dinner and go up to my dorms. My heart pounds. I just lied to ministry officials. What if they asked for some sort of test? What if they made me take Versita Serum? I'd be absolutely screwed. Ugh. Why did I have to get in the middle of criminal behavior? I know I don't regret it, still. If I hadn't, it would be Jack's body out there instead. I'm going to figure that boy out one of these days. I'm still very cross with him for getting me in middle of this and still withholding information from me. It's driving me nuts.

(time skip)

I go to Potions, ignoring all the whispers in the halls. Draco doesn't bother talking to me. Snape's not here yet. That's rather odd. I can feel people staring at me. Would they just shut up? Even if I did screw Jack, it wouldn't be their businesses. Everyone here already knows I'm a slut. And, they know that I really don't care. I look around, waiting for Snape to come. He's never late. "Miss Danvers. Could I speak to you outside?" He asks, appearing out of nowhere. Okay, obviously he appeared out of somewhere. He's waiting at the entrance. I nervously nod my head and step out into the hall. "Follow me." I try to keep up with him. He leads me to Dumbledore's office, where some Aurors are. I sit down in one of the seats. I've been in here one too many times. "Here's what's happening. You'll take Versita Serum, and we'll see if you're lying," An Auror says. He points to Mason, the Auror I met the other day. "Watch and learn." I scowl at him. Why's he so sure I'm guilty? Oh wait. That's because I am. I look at Jack from across the room. He looks at his feet, his attention unwavering. We both know we're screwed. Snape hands the vial to me and I drink it. "Bottoms up." They wait a few moments for it to kick in. I don't feel anything. "What's your name?"

"Kira Lily Danvers," I say. Wait. That's a lie, cause technically I'm Kira Lily Potter. Legally, at least.

"Did you aid in this murder?"

"No."

"Did Jack Wolf aid in this murder?"

"No."

"Were you two together that entire afternoon?"

"Yes." I smile slightly. I see what Snape did. Why's he helping me? He definitely knows I'm hiding something. Why would he help me? He hates me... "Did you two have sexual intercourse?" I look at Jack. He doesn't look up. He maintains his uninterested expression. How does he do that? People can read me like a book. "Yes, we did." They sigh in defeat.

"Do you know who did it?"

"No."

"In that case, this session is concluded. You two are dismissed." I get up a little too fast. Jack takes his time. The moment he exits that room, he grabs my wrist firmly and drags me into a classroom. I wince. He's crushing my bone. "Would you lighten your hold please?" He just rolls his eyes. "You're welcome."
