MARCUS
Eyes open like sandpaper. Ugh, how much did we drink last night? Head feels like it was fucked by a giant. Everything hurts. My eyes opened to see strands of black hair. Not Maria's hair. Saya? Not Maria. No! What did you do?! Cheated on my girlfriend with a deadly Japanese assassin. Something else gnawing.....my eyes go to my watch. SHIT. The comic shop! We were supposed to open two hours ago. If I don't open, Blaine will, and if Blaine opens he'll find......explosives. Shit! Pull your trousers up Marcus you god-damn bastard! Saya watched me run away confused. Never ran so fast in all my life. Ugh. So drunk. Still drunk. What did you do?! Head pounding. Throw myself under a bus. Maria weeping in her room. You pile of shit. You're the kind of guy you hate! I ran across the road, hoping something truly would hit me. Put me out of my misery but Saya...I had never experienced anything like her. Her eyes burned me. She seemed to really know. Like she could fix everything. She could take on the chore of being with me. She could be good enough. She could make me whole. Help me get free. The feature film of last night flashes. Man, now I'm throwing up. Sound catches up, gut twists. No. Jesus Christ, tell me I didn't say it..... I LOVE YOU. You idiot! You weak, needy, worthless piece of shit! How lame did I sound? Don't worry about how you sounded. Worry if you meant what you said. Maria once told me,
"The difference between old friends and new friends is that new friends just haven't let you down yet." She told me that everyone has let her down- except for me. And all I could think was,
"Give me time."
ALESSIA
Eyes burning. Head heavy. Eyelids open. Oh, good, so I did make it back to my room. I rubbed my face, glitter and eye shadow coming off, as I heaved out a groan. Holy Shit, how much did I drink? Was it alcohol that was in my system? Fuck, I didn't even know. I sat up, everything blurry from sleep. An arm? A leg? SHIT. I looked to see the empty bed of Petra. She hadn't came back to the room. Thank god.
"LEX WAKE UP" I whispered quickly pulling on my black school skirt cause it was the closest thing and a band t-shirt that I wasn't even sure was mine patting him on the back repeatedly. I had gotten round Master Lin's rule plenty of times before, but one thing you just didn't do was flunk the rules right under his nose. I wasn't sure how serious he was about the whole no sex thing but I wasn't gonna stick around to find out. Lex moaned into the pillow, a sound that I thought was him waking up before he mumbled
"Don't stop, love"
ASS-HOLE.
My eyes flicked to the clock on the wall. God we were going to be late.
"The comic store you idiot!" I kicked the bed, ow, I immediately regretted that, before pulling on my boots. He sat up, remembering the night before, and where we had to be, pulling his clothes on himself, grabbing his leather jacket, as we made our way to the door. I took his hand, peeking out the door to see who was around, before we made a run for it, out through the main entrance.
☠
"Well, looks like you guys had fun last night" Billy let out a harmless giggle, nudging Lex enthusiastically with a wiggle of the eyebrows. If it was anyone else, maybe they'd be a little more mature about it, but Lex patted him on the back in response. Petra crossed her arms at me nodding her head in my direction
"Is that my shirt?" I looked down, not really knowing for definite.
"Yeah. Yeah, it might be" However she just rolled her eyes, her black painted lips upturning at my messy hungover state. But hey! You think my morning was bad? Marcus literally went and shit himself. I repeat, he shit himself. I sat on the glass counter as the comic store door swung open to reveal a very naked Marcus, covering his regions with a shirt. Mhm, my night was unicorns and rainbows compared to this. Well, the night itself wasn't bad at all, it was the waking up that was pretty crap.
"We catch you at a bad time, dude?" Billy asked clearly amused. I bit my lip looking at my feet trying to refrain from laughter.
"Stores closed!" Petra yelled to the kids who were standing round looking at the complete chaos that was Marcus, before she and Lex ushered them all out, locking the door.
"Alright Mr cacca, get your clothes on" I swung my boots leaning back on the counter with a grin. We were never going to let him forget this. Never. But at that present moment, we had bigger fish to fry.
"Where's Saya?" He asked, trying to get over how uncomfortable he was. My dark brows furrowed
"We thought you would know, seeing as you guys left early last night?" It sounded conspicuous the moment I said it. I wasn't stupid. I just hope nothing happened for Maria's sake.
☠
"Don't worry about it every great man has been hobbled by diarrhea. Genghis Khan, JFK, Gary Coleman. Time and diarrhea, man. They're undefeated." Billy told Marcus as they sat at the back of the delivery truck later that night, the latter looking distant. But I don't think it was his bowels that were bothering him. Petra and Lex were talking, but it all swirled into one, as I zoned out, only for a moment. I wondered why I couldn't focus, but then it hit me what we were trying to do. I was scared. Sure, I'd done jobs in the outfit if you know what I mean, but this guy was a blazing psycho, and these people in this truck, I loved them more than anything else in the world.
"Well the ladies do like a man in a uniform" Lex stated bringing me back, as he sat in the drivers seat his usual leather jacket attire replaced by that of a delivery company uniform.
"Since when?"
"Since I said so, alright?" He gave me his roll of the eyes, which never failed to amuse me. He stood up clicking open a box where a semi-automatic machine gun sat, as he loaded it.
"Ha! Is that the best you could do, sunshine?" I pulled the black slimline case I'd brought clicking it open to reveal my own weapon. Lex's eyes went wide, a kid on Christmas day kind of expression. "A 1928 Tommy Submachine gun. I win" I swung the strap over my shoulder, clicking it, making sure it was loaded and ready to go.
"I don't know, love, but this is sorta doing something for me" Oh, for the love of god.
"Can you stop thinking about your dick for one second?" I turned to the others "Okay, so, is Saya really not coming?" In all honesty, we couldn't do this without her. We needed her. Marcus shook his head in a miserable manner.
"I'm not sure we can do this without her" He sighed running his fingers through his hair in frustration. Just then, the doors of the truck swung open startling me slightly, before my mouth turned into a smile of relief.
"Of course you can't" Saya spoke, standing, her katanta strapped to her back. Best. entrance. ever.
"Ready to do this thing?" I asked, my legs shaking gently from adrenaline and the cold. I don't think we were ever going to be ready for something like this.
