It was almost three months since Eric last seen Tanya.  There have been no word from her since he dropped  her off that night after the fight.  He left for school two days later and never got the chance to see Tanya.  He hated the way they parted that night.  He reached out multiple times, but  no response from her.   It was not like Tanya to go silent for so long.

Eric slowly came to the realization that he had lost Tanya and it was such a devastation to him.  He lost interest in school and rarely attended any of his classes and before long his grades began to suffer.  His professors voiced their  disappointment as they grilled  him to find out what was going on with him, but Eric would not share  with anyone the reason for the turmoil that was reeking havoc in his life.  All he wanted was to head home to see Tanya.

The constant feeling of deja vu continued to plague him more than ever before. Eric  felt as if he was losing his mind. He  saw Tanya, smell Tanya everywhere.   What was it about this little girl that held his heart captive since he was a young boy?

He called Billy  regularly  to find out how Tanya was and if she was seeing any one, but Billy assured him that she was not seeing anyone and that her parents still had her on a tight leash. Eric was so heartbroken over Tanya and over the way they parted.

Eric sent Tanya a package which made her cried.  It contained many hand written notes and several pictures of them together. There were pictures of her and Eric together that first day he came home for summer break, and many pictures of them at the beach just playing around and having fun.   He never forget how much Tanya loved receiving  hand written letters from him. He wrote:

-My Darling it is 2:00 AM in the morning, but I can't get to sleep from Just thinking of you and the mess I have made of my life, of our life. I had everything in the palm of my hand and I let it slip away. Tanya I never meant to hurt you. You have to believe me. You have made me realize that, nothing matters,  if you are not in my life.  Please forgive me.  your silence is killing me. Please say something."

Tanya locked her door and opened another letter.

"My Darling Tanya, I don't think I will make it through the semester, if I don't hear from you. I am not asking for anything, only that you reply to my letter and let me know you are ok. I miss hearing from you. I hate myself for the way we parted last time. Please say something...anything, please."

Tanya finished reading all his letters and cried herself to sleep. She would always love him, but she knew deep within her heart  that she was not enough for him.   He needed so much more than she could give him.  He needed a woman, but she was still a child. Continuing their relationship would only bring them both heartache, she concluded.

                                                                                              *********

It was almost Thanksgiving, one of the most celebrated holiday in the United States.  All of Eric's  class mates were excited about going home for the holiday.  This was not a holiday celebrated on the island, but Eric was just as excited to go home.  It was also Eric's birthday. He was turning nineteen a few days before Thanksgiving.  Eric's Aunt who lived in the United States for some time,  insisted that he spend the holiday and celebrate his birthday with them but, Eric  passed on the invitation. He just had to get home to see Tanya.  He didn't care about celebrating the holiday or his birthday. He just needed to know what was going on with him and Tanya.

The minute Eric got home he jumped into his truck and drove around looking for Tanya. He saw her a couple of times but she was always with her mother...the drill sergeant.  Eric thought that they had Tanya on an invisible leash. He could not wait for the day when he would set her free. He sent a message to Tanya asking her to meet him, but she responded back telling him that she did not want to see him.  Eric cried. She was really done with him.
