He was so fucking mad.....not at her but at himself.  She did not hide her obsession with having a baby. He should have had a backup plan to ensure that this did not happen, he thought.

"You think I did this on purpose but I didn't; I swear," she cried.

"Tanya to tell the truth I don't know what to think but I am not mad at you; I am mad at me for not protecting you better," he said.

"I knew it; you are mad," she cried.

He reached over and took her hand. "I told you that I am not mad at you," he said.

When they got home, Eric washed Tanya up and helped her to bed. She got very talkative. She told him that having the baby would not change anything; she would continue with school.   She said that  they had the extra room that they could use as a nursery.  She was not making any sense. How could she think that having a baby now wouldn't change anything.  She would have to drop out of school and even if she decided to go back, who the hell was going to take care of the kid? his mother? or her mother? It would be laughable if it wasn't  so tragic.

Eric told her to get some rest and that they would talk later when she felt better and that seemed to give her some relief. He realized that she was not sick so much from being pregnant but from fear of having to tell him about it. A load was lifted from her once he found out.

Tanya  fell asleep almost instantly.  She had not had much sleep since she found out that she was pregnant.  She was scared to death of telling Eric.  After she fell asleep Eric went out back and sat on the step. He wiped the tears from his face but the tears were flowing faster than he could wipe them away with his hands. He was quickly finding out that being a man was not so easy after all; with it comes  tough decisions, like the one he needed to make about the baby. Eric was still sitting on the step thinking an hour later when Tanya joined him. She came and sat next to him and rested her head on his shoulder.

"Please talk to me," she said.

Eric wrapped his arm around her. "When did you find out?" he asked.

"I am two weeks late; I suspected but found out a couple days ago," Tanya said.

"I thought you had your period a week ago," Eric said.

"It started but I was just spotting that one day and then it stopped," she said

"So you are less than two months then?" he asked not really knowing how these things were calculated.

She nodded her head yes. "Seven weeks about," she said.

How could he tell her that they could not keep the baby? "Tanya you know that I have never denied you anything," he started. She eased up her head and looked at him as if she knew that what was coming next was not good.

"It is really hard for me to say this and it hurts like hell but we can't have a baby now," he said.

"What are you saying Eric?" she cried.

He could not say what he was thinking. This was their baby. "We can't do this, not now," he cried. They were both in tears.

"You are talking about an abortion, aren't you? you can't ask me to do......that to our baby," she cried.

"It is not a baby yet, that is why we have to act right away," he cried.

Tanya got up and ran away from him. Eric ran after her and caught her.

"Listen to me before you judge me; I might go to prison Tanya, for how long? I don't know; but I can't leave you here pregnant and alone; I can't do it Tanya," he cried.
