Izassi pulls her sword back from Ephen's throat, inspecting it. "Good job, that was fun."
"Fun?! You beat me. Again." Complains the boy how despite complaining, is smiling. Pushing his dark hair back, he stands up.
Most people would say that Ephen is a good looking fellow, his hair; which under the right light looks like the night sky, is long enough to pull back. His skin is tanned from many hours under the sun; and his eyes, well, if you know him well enough to get close. Are the most startling blue. Though anyone can see the black sclera.
Izassi laughs. "Exactly! Fun! Anyways, I need to head to Elrick's. You?" Her grayish eyes' sparkling. She looks at Ephen again. "Actually, scratch that. We both need to shower." He raises am eyebrow as if to say 'No really?'. "Come on idiot. We need to get dismissed by Sandra, and I'm not doing that alone.
Ephen huffs out a laugh, "That would be a death wish. Should we grab Sky too?"
She nods.
They head over to a nearby sparring ring, and wait for Skyla(Sky) to get out.
"Oof, she should've gone to the ground right there. Jumping was an idiot move." Comments Izassi.
"Don't be to hard on her. Not everyone has been here their whole lives like us." Scolds Sandra, coming up behind them. "Now get back to work, I won't have any slacking in my class." Izassi and Ephen share a look. "And don't think about running, you know I'll catch you."
"Sorry Sandra..." Groans Ephen.
"Izassi."
"You've raised us not to lie, so I cannot say that I am apologetic."
Sandra's green (Super bright green, almost impossible not to notice if you talk to her.) eyes' narrow. The corner of her mouth rises. "Come on you too, let's spar together." She turned and started walking.
Izassi and Ephen followed behind like scolded children. They were lead to one of the larger mats, often used when multiple people are sparring together.
"You two get in trouble again? Were you trying to sneak off?" Asks the other teacher, Atlin. He also helped raise Izassi and Ephen. "Oh come on~ Don't give me that look! You know it's true." Atlin whistles loudly, getting everyone's attention. "ALRIGHT EVERYONE! IT'S OUR DAYLY DOSE OF SANDRA BEATING IZASSI AND EPHEN!!! COME WATCH!!!" He shouts.
They step inside the ring, not even making a plan. They already had one after all. It was called, let Izassi do the fighting.
There was another whistle. The fight started.
Sandra stands back, waiting for them to move, and move they did. Ephen veeres off o the right, while Izassi takes the left.
Sandra, deciding that Izassi was the bigger threat, went after her first. She swings wide with her sword, nearly missing Izassi. And then she stabs at her.
Izassi dodges, swerving to the left.
Ephen comes from the back, swinging his sword low, ankle level. He misses, but by a hair. Sandra had stepped forward, to avoid the attack. He had forgotten to be wary of her hearing.
Sandra smiles. In a move so quick you could hardly see it, she puts her sword tip to his neck. Only for a moment though, as she has to quickly duck in order to avoid a headshot.
A whistle.
"No headshots Izassi! That's against the rules."
Izassi turns to him. "You forgot rule number one. If the rules are not specified at the beginning, they don't count. 'Sides I knew it wouldn't kill her if I hit. I'm using a wooden sword. You saw that."
"Izassi's right, we should've specified the rules. Also. She is using a wooden sword, as is proper procedure during a spar." Says Sandra.
Izassi nods her head in thanks.
"This calls for a rematch between Izassi and Sandra."
Atlin nodded, embarrassed. He is still a new teacher, not used to this.
"Don't worry Atlin, you're doing great." Encourages Izassi.
Ephen leaves the ring, and Izassi and Sandra move to opposite sides of the ring again.
Atlin whistles again.
This time neither of the women wait. They both rush forward, swords dancing around each other. Careful not to hit what would be the blade against the others. Sandra unarms Izassi with a quick move. Izassi surges forward, determined to make Sandra yield.
Long story shirt, she fails. Sandra manages to put her sword on Izassi's chest, meaning that if they were actually using swords, Izassi would have died.
"You've gotten better since we last sparred. Good job." She offers her hand.
"Thank you, I've been practicing. " Izassi grins, taking the offered hand.
"I think you and Ephen have earned a break today. You need a shower."
Izassi laughs. "I know. Thank you."
Izassi walks over to Ephen.
"Apparently we've earned a break. We can go take our showers."
He does a little dance. "Yes! Race you to the sword rack!"
Izassi and Ephen race, putting away their wooden swords and grabbing their metal ones. Izassi comments about wishing she could have used it more, and Ephen claims that he is happy she did not.
They reach the shower rooms. The guy's on the left, the women's on the right, and nonbinary's in the middle. They split off.
Izassi had decided that she liked hot showers after a day of sparring years ago. That doesn't make it any worse when she does this time either. It's absolute bliss. Pure calming bliss.
She lets herself sink to the floor -Placing a special mat down before she does- and sits. Letting the water fall over her. Running through her long hair. She sighs.
The flowers on the way to Elrick's are always pretty this time of the cycle. The purples and oranges and reds making the path just that much prettier. She was going to bring Ephen, but he went back to his room before she could ask. Izassi doesn't mind, she understands even. Ephen likes to have his time alone. He's probably playing cards by himself.
Hi! Seeing as I'm writing 1000 or so words at a time, and that's not really long enough to be a chapter. The chapters will be in separate parts. The updates on this will hopefully be daily. At least that's the goal.
Bye loves!
