"Will you be my girlfriend?"
"Wh-what?? You're joking right?" The pretty girl in front of him gaped, looking completely baffled by what he just said.
Only then Lucas realized how shocking that must be for her to receive a confession on a first date, but her reaction was so adorable, he couldn't help but tease her a bit. "No, I'm certainly not joking..." he mused in amusement, watching her squirmed awkwardly before his eyes.
How cute! He screamed internally, biting his lips, preventing a chuckle escape from it. He didn't want to ruin this adorable moment.
After staring at each other for a good one minute, she cleared her throat. He waited in great anticipation for her response. "Are you still drunk?" she asked in a rather accusing tone, squinting her pretty round eyes at him.
"I'm pretty sober at the moment..." He mused.
"Then why???"
"Why... I confess?" he asked, inclining his eyebrows at her. She nodded his head in an innocent sort of way, oblivious to how funny that question sounds. "Well... I just said I like you, so I want to be someone special for you..." he elaborated, emphasizing the 'I like you' part which made her blush a little.
"But why? We just met..." she protested.
"So?" he retorted and took a sip of his lemonade, grinning to his glass while trying to keep his expression neutral.
She heaved a deep sigh, looking troubled. "It just that... this is not right..." she muttered again, shifting her gaze onto the untouched-Kimbab rolls that put them in safe distance from each other.
"How so?" he furrowed his brows.
"I think it's way too fast for us, I don't even know you, you could be a bad guy or a psychopath..." At that, Lucas burst out laughing. Psychopath? Seriously?
"Do I look like one?" he asked between his laugh.
"Well, you could be one..."
"Is that a new way to say no?"
"I don't say I don't want to be your girl-" She stopped and went red. His lips curled up but he didn't say anything. "I mean, we need times to get to know each other..." she added.
"Okay. So how many dates do you need to give me an answer?" he asked, grinning happily.
"I don't know... Ten more dates?" she said without even thinking. Lucas snorted and threw his head back laughing at her remark. "What? Why???" She asked, looking confused at his reaction.
"Nothing, you just... too cute for this world..." he muttered between his chuckles. She gave him a searching look, probably wondering what the hell is wrong with this guy.
"Alright. Let's have ten more dates..." he said again before she changed her mind and labeled him as a weird-ass clown.
"Wait a moment!" She exclaimed, looking bewildered. "You're okay with it? Just like that?" She asked, sounding scandalous, probably didn't expect him to agree with a condition she just conjured on the spot.
"Yeah, totally love it..." He grinned at her, feeling elated just by the thought of spending his days with her in the future. "I'm a very flexible man after all..." She stared at him, looking very conflicted. "What? Why are you looking at me like that?"
"You're enjoying this, don't you?"
"You've no idea..."
"Arghh...I know it..." She whined. "There's no way you're a novice in this courting stuff..." She grumbled.
