Yuqi cleared her throat and take a gulp her lemonade. "Err... that was...I'm sorry about that..." She muttered low, glancing nervously at him

Lucas shrugged. "It's not your fault..." He smiled at her before taking one of the sandwiches from the box and gave it to her. "Have a sandwich..." he beckoned her to accept it.

She took the sandwich. "So...um..." He inclined his eyebrows, encouraging her to continue. "...you don't want to know?"

He stared at her, contemplating the options. "Can I ask then?" She pondered for a moment then nodded, looking rather sullen. "So, what did she meant by a love rival?"

She sighed and put down her sandwich. "Well, it was an old story- oh our tteokbokki is here..." she exclaimed the moment her phone rang. A few minutes later a tall guy with delivery boxes strolled toward their direction.

"So...?" He asked once the delivery guy left them with a box of tteokbokki and a bowl spicy hangover soup.

"Ah...the story..." She reflected for a moment. "We used to be besties..."

"You and her?" Lucas raised his eyebrows, sounding scandalous.

"Yeah, we were pretty close back then..." she began as they started digging on the tteokbokki and his spicy hangover soup. "I don't know how it happened but along the way, we got to know Taeyong and become friends with the popular college heartthrob..."

"Heartthrob? Seriously?" he laughed.

"Hey, he's one good looking dude..."

"I guess I'm a college heartthrob too..." he said again, wriggling his brows playfully at her.

"Conceited much!" She burst out laughing.

"Alright, what happened next? You're falling in love with him?"

"Yup..." admitted Yuqi as her laughter ceased down. "And I confided pretty much everything to Yeri after making sure she didn't have any feeling toward Taeyong..." He nodded, listening attentively to her. "So I thought it was okay to pursue him since she vehemently said she was rooting for me. Everything went quite splendidly after that. I went on a couple of dates with Taeyong and he seemed fairly interested in me. So after several dates, I decided to confess-"

"Hang on? You confessed?" He interrupted.

"Well, you see, I was pretty invested in him..." she let out an embarrassed chortled. He chuckled and beckoned her to continue. "But I didn't go through with the plan though..." she continued in a bitter tone.

"Why?" Lucas asked, eyeing her curiously.

"The next day after I made up my mind to confess, I walked on them making out in our share-flat..."

"What???" He gasped, dropping his chopsticks.

"I felt disgusted and hurts at the same time. So out of anger I moved out and stop seeing them..." She took a sip of her lemonade. "Later that month I found out they were actually seeing each other long before I found out..."

His forehead furrowed in confusion. "But he went on numerous dates with you..."

"Well, they probably find it funny messing around with other people's feelings..." She pursed her lips in disgust.

"What the fuck!" He exclaimed, enraged at he just heard. What kind of sick bastard is this dude? How dare he played around with this sweet lovely angel in front of him. He better watch out if they ever met in the future!

"So what's her deal?" He asked again after some time, trying to subside his anger.

"Ah, she loves drama. Some times after our falling out, I heard their relationship didn't turn out that well. She kinda blamed me for that..."

"That's absurd..."

"Not really..." She paused. He waited for the next lines. Taeyong came to see me after a while and apologized for what happened before. He also hoped that we could be friends again..." She elaborated.

"That's quite bold of him..." He clenched his knuckles hard, feeling angry again. Why did she have to encounter a shitty guy like him?

"I know right. That shameless jerk..." She cussed, stabbing the tteokbokki with her chopsticks. "Of course I reject him point-blank. Like who wanted to be friends with that jerk again..."

"You did well..."

"I thought so too..." She sighed. "Unfortunately, she heard about the whole affair and turned out very nasty ever since. She probably thought I was trying to poach her handsome and popular boyfriend..." She scorned.

"You have a hard time..." He patted her head lightly.

"You too..." She patted his arm back.

"Me too?"

She nodded. "You have to listen to my embarrassing sob story on our important date..." She continued again with a grim expression.

"I don't mind. I'd love to know more about you..." He reassured her.

"But I do mind..." She retorted, looking gloomy. "How about you tell me a story too? So I can be at ease..." She suggested.

"I don't have an interesting story like yours tho..." He put out a thoughtful face.

"That's not fair..." She pouted.

He chuckled at her cute reaction. "Unless you want to hear about my basketball training..."

"That would be boring..." She commented then laughed afterward.

"Yuqi..." He mused after an extended silence between them. She hummed. "Do you still like him?"

"No!" She said, sounding revolted at the very idea.

"What about me?"

"What about you?"

"Do you like me?" She stared at him, looking baffled by the sudden question. "I probably not as popular as your college heartthrob guy but I'm still very handsome..." He continued again in a rather teasing manner.

She gave him a disgusted look then playfully asked him back, "Do you like me then?"

"Yes..." He answered point-blank.

She looked taken aback for several seconds before crying out, "Yah! How I supposed to react if you just answer it like that?"

He chuckled at her bewildered expression. "Well, I'm not very good at flirting..."

"Sure, you're not!" She rolled her eyes.

"Am I that obvious?" He asked between his laughter.

"Very..."

"Well, since you found out, I have no choice but to ask you the sacred question..." He paused for a moment. "Will you be my girlfriend?"
