Chapter 23 - Fashion shows and farewells

Talon paced the halls seemingly without reason, given his limited time left at Beacon at the moment he had wanted to make the most of it but with teams, JNPR and RWBY seemingly buried under work and assignments there was little too do much to the male's disappointment. Figuring there was not much, he could do about it, Talon was trying to come up with ideas of what to do before seeing a familiar team and even more familiar pair of rabbit ears pass by the end of the hall.

Truthfully team CFVY were in a similar situation, with their lectures finished for today the group was currently brainstorming ideas on what they should do but with little success. While Fox and Yatsuhashi were complacent to relax and meditate in their dorm respectively, Coco had heard a new store had opened in Vale and wanted to do a spot of window shopping with the Rabbit Faunus reluctantly agreeing to join her.

Once they had heard Talon's call, a sigh of relief left the group feeling that with Talon present this just might clear up what the group could do to keep themselves entertained.

"Talon your just in time were looking for something to do since we're free for the rest of the day."

"Guess its good I caught you. I actually need to talk to you all, I know a great cafe in Vale if you're not busy? My treat."

"You don't have to do that but well I was planning on heading shopping anyway, so I guess there's no harm in stopping for a bite beforehand. I'm sure Vel would agree with no problem so what about you Yatsu, Fox you coming?"

"COCO..."

"Well if Talon is okay with it, I would graciously accept."

"Yeah, sounds like fun."

With this decided the group proceeded to the Bullhead docks and headed into Vale. Once their Talon guides them to a small café with them taken seats around one of the tables situated on the veranda. As the group awaited their orders to be ready, Coco decided to question Talon on what he had wanted to talk about.

"You said before we came that you needed to talk to us, so what's up?"

"Well, the truth is I'm being called back for my first assignment, so after the weekend I'll have to head back to Atlas for awhile... But Vale is probably the most likely place we'll be stationed given the recent Dust robberies. And Beacon is my home, so I'll be here every break I get regardless."

Remembering the previous tone shift when he spoke to RWBY and JNPR, Talon quickly cut in to reassure he wouldn't be gone for long to try and soften any blow which worked to some extent given the group seemed surprised but did not hold the same dour express as the others did.

"Wow wow wow wow... wait so your not a student when did this happen?"

At Coco's surprise, Talon could only think back and realise that Velvet was the only one of the group present in the lunchroom when he presented his full rank and title.

"Wait, didn't Velvet tell you?"

"All Velvet 'told' us is how much she wants-"

"COCO!"

"I mean no, our darling Bun-bun seemed a little 'preoccupied' with other thoughts so what is it?"

At the questioning, Talon can only give a lacklustre salute as he spoke something he had been repeated trained to do but still held no enjoyment for.

"First lieutenant, Talon Ozpin, of team Osiris. Member of the four kingdoms unified task force project Horizon at your service."

At this revelation, the three can only seem to stare in surprise with Coco being the first to connect the details.

"Well, I guess that explains your outfits, I just thought you had poor taste."

To this, the group can only laugh at the arbitrary statement given by their leader with Talon quickly responding that his clothing choices were the cusp of military chic bringing another round of laughter to the group as their orders arrived.

As the team ate, they discussed their predicament to Talon of what to do with the rest of the day and to this Talon suggested a lovely little park just on the outskirts of Vale that is usually clear. That way Velvet can take pictures while Fox and Yatsu can relax and meditate, with the only one left being Coco still being steadfast on shopping.

"And what of me, you wouldn't want a young lady such as myself to go all alone now, would you?"

"I had wondered if you would allow me to accompany you actually, I need some new summer and winter clothes in case I need to spend time in Atlas or Vacuo."

At the suggestion, Coco's eyes seemed to sparkle underneath her aviators as the other three team members' expression seemed to sour into a sign of pity. Noticing this, Talon enquired about what was wrong with fox simply offering that he had metaphorically kicked the lancers' nest and Velvet adding that Coco is typically the one to want to go shopping so for someone else to request to come could be problematic.

To this Talon can only direct his attention back to Coco who had seemed to perk up exponentially as she described how she has some great ideas for him and cannot wait to take him from combat catwalk to fashion fierce as she kisses her fingers to illustrate her point.

A cold sweat forming on his brow, Talon asks the other three members present how afraid he should be, and to this, the three just give a flat 'very' in response. Talon very quickly realising his mistake, tiredly responds that it was nice to know them before Coco remarks that it'll be fine, they will just go to a few stores and choose maybe a few new outfits.

As the sky changes to Amber, one of the last few bullheads arrive back to Beacon with team CFVY striding out after a relaxing day. An exhausted Talon was slowly following behind, carrying an obscene number of boxes, racks, and even one or two hat boxes.

While Blake had come to be good friends with her team, she did find them a tad boisterous for her tastes and at times she has taken to going for walks around campus for a moment of peace. While she would generally prefer to do so with Talon present, he had apparently being dragged out shopping when she and Yang had messaged him much to her disappointment something her teammate had teased her to no end for.

As Blake took a relaxing walk around the campus, she took note of the group near the docks with one shortly collapsing after getting out of the bullhead. Quickly noting his hair colour and size, Blake had adopted a fast walk over to the group before questioning what exactly was going on.

"Talon... why are you on the floor?"

"Oh... you know... Just taking a breath.... You?"

"Yeah, I figured so... I'm just taking a walk around campus for some peace and quiet. What's with the boxes?"

"Oh that, Coco helped me find some new outfits. Oh, and Blake?"

"Yes, Talon?"

"If I ever think about going clothes shopping again feel free to just shoot me... square in the face... don't even hesitate."

As the two spoke, Coco helped pick the male up off the floor before asking for introductions. To this, Talon introduced Blake to the group before gathering up the boxes and racks and recounting the extensive shopping trip Coco had dragged him on much to the group's enjoyment. Just before Talon headed back to his room, he remembered he had yet to give team CFVY his scroll number so as he left talon recited the number before making his way back to his room.

Once Blake had made it back to her dorm, she described the team she had met, and what Talon had done with his day with Yang remarking how invested she seemed in someone else's day. Blushing at the comment, Blake simply replied that Talon just made her feel comfortable which the team seemed to agree on before Yang brought up something she had on her mind.

"You notice it too rubes, right? Talon feels really familiar, but I don't think I've ever met him before."

"Yeah,I don't know why but he reminds me of someone."
