Chapter 27 - Bear knuckle brawl

A short distance from the group team CRDL make themselves as comfortable as possible by leaning on stones, trees, and the ground while Jaune returns to the group with six full jars of the red tree sap before setting them down just as he collapses face-first. CRDL stand back up in response laughing at the Arc's misfortune before Cardin speaks up remarking that it wasn't too hard was it however to this Jaun can only groan out cross-eyed and dizzy that he thinks he may be allergic to the stuff before he returns his face to the dirt.

"Greeeeat, great, great. So, Jaune, I bet you're asking yourself, Why did my buddy Cardin ask me to collect six jars of tree sap when there's only five of us?"

"That is one of the many questions I have asked myself today, yes."

"Well, come with me, and you'll find out."

As Cardin begins to drag Jaune along with the team, the young Arc can only gulp in worry as he's dragged towards a hilltop. Once their Jaune is squeezed between Cardin and Russel as the group peak their heads over the crest to find RWBY and the leaderless JNPR collecting sap below.

As Ren finishes filling a jar he trades it for an empty one with Nora who gives a hungry sigh, however, a moment later, he turns back to find the jar seemingly licked clean and Nora sheepishly laughing. To this, Ren can only sigh before refilling the jar and sealing it with the lid before handing it back to Nora.

While this occurs, Jaune can only look on curious and a little hesitant as to what Cardin has planned but before he can think on it Cardin pounds his fist into the soft ground before revealing a taped shut cardboard box with a W written on the side that appears to be angrily buzzing.

"Cardin, wh-what's going on?"

"Payback."

"Pyrrha...?

Wh-what are you-?"

"That's the girl. Red-haired know-it-all thinks she's so smart. Alright, boys... Last night, old Jaune here managed to round up an entire box of Rapier Wasps, and now, we're gonna put him to work.

Now, according to one of the essays you wrote for me last week, these nasty things loooove sweets. I'm thinking it's time we teach her a thing or two."

At Cardin's suggestion, the rest of his team can only snicker as Cardin first offers Jaune a hand up before painfully yanking him to his feet and shoving the jar in his hands.

"And you're gonna do it."

"Do what?"

"Hit her with the sap! Either that, or I'll have a chat with Goodwitch, and you'll be on the first airship out of Beacon."

As Cardin whispers the threat into the boy's ear, Jaune can only turn towards the group and aims his throw at an oblivious and smiling Pyrrha, trying to steel his nerves and shaking hand to do the deed, but ultimately readies himself for what he's about to do.

"No."

"What did you say?"

"I said... NO!"

With determination burning in his eyes, Jaune turns back to the four before slamming the jar into Cardin's chestplate momentarily making him take a step back in surprise before looking down at himself and laughing darkly. Jaune nervously laughs along at this raising his arms in a defensive position before Dove and Sky grab the young Arc by his shoulders and bring him in as Jaune stares up at Cardin with evident fear and worry in his eyes as Cardin remarks that he has really done it now.

Cardin quickly unleashes a series of punches beating the Arc to the ground before looming over the boy and picking him up only to punch him back down again offering a wide grin seemingly satisfied with the pain he is inflicting.
